Do our players respect CCM?

After reading about how Stokes has to tell his PG's to run, players confused on what to do, etc...

I feel like maybe the whole problem with this team is that some of our players just don't believe or respect CCM.

Maybe CCM never has a CONSISTENT plan and he flip-flops want he wants, and after awhile our players just give up on what he tries to tell them.

Thoughts?? Have there been any mention on how our players absolutely love our coaches the way some of our football players do?

They respect him. But they know what's up too. And the effort is there most of the time. Lack of respect would show with effort and mouthing off.

Despite what fans think, players almost always want to play for their coach.

I think you win respect. Not speaking for anyone other than myself but he has lost me. No coaching, no getting in the ref's face, no rotation, no big wins, plus add to that a player's only meeting, smells fishy.

I think Zo is a very personable guy. He'd be a guy you want on your bench, but he isn't great head coaching material as of now. As BTO has pointed out several times, with some top offensive minded assistant coaches who coach with a lot of passion and heart then maybe Zo would become a great coach one day. I don't have any inside info on what Zo's practices and huddles are like, but from the couch it just seams Zo is happy no matter the outcome as long as his players hustle on both sides of the floor, especially on defense. On defense Zo is always yelling at players like a passionate coach, but on offense I hardly ever see him talking a whole lot to his players. The offensive strategy is not there at all. He complains about poor PG play in fast break situations, yet he recruited over a few pure PGs for combo guards like Thompson. I just think Zo doesn't have a realistic approach to the game that translates to winning consistently. He wants to win with great defense, yet he doesn't press to create easy points nor does he push break a lot. His offenses have little structure to them, and his teams don't shoot enough in practice it seams. Zo's ideology IMO is to keep the game low scoring in hopes of scoring just enough points to win, and a lot of the time that just isn't going to work.

As Sparty said, I don't believe effort is the problem. Fans like to throw around the word "quit" too often. It is easy to throw around, and fans will say it because they don't want to admit that their team is simply not as good as the other. The late season runs by CCM's teams seem to show that they play for him. I said back then that they seemed like they would run through a wall for him, especially the first year where we were below or at .500 into January. I agree with others that some strategy and scheme appears to be lacking to add to my belief that the team, while talented, has limitations. CCM has to be able to scheme to those limitations.

99% of what I have seen has been positive from the players but lately especially stokes has gotten fairly loose lipped IMO.

Here is another example of a comment that I am sure CCM wouldn't like not to be out there.

@JaysonSwain: RT @andybreal: #Vols Jarnell Stokes sounds off on #UT 's matchup w/ #Arkansas ,"They lack size and length so we should dominate them."..

Just seems to me he is losing his grip on especially stokes

Do you not remember the comments Martin was making earlier this year?

Infact didn't you criticize him for some comments earlier this year that he made?

And fwiw you should research that quote...that guy is getting lit up by Knoxville media. Stokes was asked a question about rebounding, and that guy picked and chose what he wanted to, that's not what stokes said.

Not sure about the first 2 questions meaning??

Many times quotes are taken out of context. Same with CCMs after auburn. Twitter isn't always good that's for sure.

I need to see the interview

I am not that informed about basketball coaching, but I have watched a lot.

This team does not seem inspired.
This coach does not work the refs like other coaches.
He sits too much.
He should get some attention for recognizing poor refereeing.
He needs to be passionate so the players can mirror his passion.
He needs to get a few techs and get thrown out.
He does not make adjustments well.
If he presses, he gives up the first time it is broken.
He does not stay with the zone long enough for the players to get used to it.
His subs don't foul hard enough.
He calls timeouts at weird times.
He takes out the hot shooter.
He does not leave the big men in to learn to play with fouls.
He allows a run to go too far before calling as many timeouts as needed.
Our players don't look like they really have set plays.
Our players should be able to run a better pick and roll. Do we ever double screen to get a good 3 point shot?
How can a big man have the ball down low and there is no one to pass to for the open trey, especially in his corner.

I know, there is nothing new in what I said. It is just the start of a list.

Come home Bruce.

Martin has made multiple, I guess you'd call uncharacteristic comments this year....prior to the Wichita game he made a few, wasn't malicious, but for him it was pretty strong.

Then as you mentioned above, he had a quote which you ridiculed him for after the auburn game.

I'm not sure where the whole interview can be found, but I know Knoxville area media was trying to clear it up. Said Stokes was asked a question about rebounding and the guy picked and chose what he wanted and pieced it together basically.

I don't recall criticizing CCM except for the auburn comment which I think was taken out of context

I don't Remember the quotes you are referring to
