I firmly believe that a major contributor to this problem is the likelihood that at least 2 QB's transfer and we're left with 2 scholarship QB's on the roster. Please follow: If Coach Jones plays a freshman, common sense would dictate that both Worley and Peterman will transfer; they're simply not gonna sit for multiple years as a back-up. By playing Worley/Peterman, the chances of transfer are greatly reduced. Coach Jones knows this is year zero anyway. I believe that it actually helps that one of the QB's got hurt (although I don't wish that on anyone). It allows a freshman to play a back-up role where we could possibly redshirt one to get them in different years. It is also greatly possible that should he start one of the true freshmen, the other freshman, along with both Worley and Peterman will transfer leaving us with one QB.
I know some will say, "let them transfer"; it's not that simple as a CEO (which is what Coach Jones is). With 2 transfers, we will be forced to take 2 marginal QB's in next year's recruiting class (with the strong possibility that one of them would transfer as well).
I really believe this is about roster depth and surely hope that they can sign an athlete capable of playing QB or DB/WR (like Jeremaine Copeland) next year.
