Yet some posters are allowed to criticize aspects of Pearl's personal life such as his divorce and financial compensation from the University, which I argue, add zero constructive debate on this board as well.

I understand if you have a personal issue with our coach, but please leave the man's personal life off the boards. It creates a poisonous atmosphere.

Agreed on the personal life aspect. That crap is fit for perezhilton.com, not VolNation.

I have had a thread deleted that was titled "Take that, Pearl haters". The title was tongue in cheek but the message was not.

However, once a week it seems I come across an AWESOME discussion thread, such as the "Coaches Rankings" thread, where Pearl's divorce is brought up, or someone describing him as a snake or a bum.

It adds zero positive value to the board imo.

That kinda stuff happens when you have people who consider themselves smarter than they are. All these guys bragging about their knowledge in basketball is a joke. I agree about the personal issues. Bruce Pearl is our coach, not our chaplain. I really don't give a damn if he is faithful or not. That doesn't make him a better or worse coach in my opinion. Let what he does on the court decide that.

Who's trying to win an argument with that? You might not like that opinion, and I really don't myself, but it's a reasonably defensible position. It certainly doest qualify as ignorance, as is being implied here.

That's fine that you have that opinion, but you're not the arbiter of what's worthy. I generally agree that it's immaterial, but this joint isn't up fr a Nobel prize or anything.

They aren't the same. One is discussion about our coach. One is pointed directly at another poster. I'm fine with both, but don't pretend they're equal.

Do some homework and you'll find this place littered with callouts similar to yours. The mods generally let things roll, but it certainly reaches a breaking point. It's disingenuous to imply that the mods pick one POV over another.
