Why kill a good persecution complex with evidence to the contrary?http://www.volnation.com/forum/tenn.../98386-where-haters-now-calling-all-true.html

When "take that, Pearl Haters" type threads are started following a win, they are quickly deleted by the moderating staff because they supposedly dont add constructive discussion on the baskeball board.
Yet some posters are allowed to criticize aspects of Pearl's personal life such as his divorce and financial compensation from the University, which I argue, add zero constructive debate on this board as well.
I understand if you have a personal issue with our coach, but please leave the man's personal life off the boards. It creates a poisonous atmosphere.
They aren't the same. One is discussion about our coach. One is pointed directly at another poster. I'm fine with both, but don't pretend they're equal.

They aren't equally inflammatory. One is about a third party and another is a direct confrontation. All rhetoric isn't created equal.I never said they were the same, I said they add the same amount of rational discussion to the board. They are both equally inflammatory, imo, and do you think we need to wait until things get out of hand before something is done about it? I dont.
Without actually taking the bait you are using, I would like to ask whether you really think starting a thread about discussions in another thread is a good idea and, if you were a moderator trying to keep the site cleanand orderly, whether you would let it stand.
"Where are the haters now? Calling all True Vol Fans!!":

"For the Pearl Haters":

"To all the naysayers":

"I am just wondering.....Where are all the critics":

Neither does starting a thread with nothing but a smiley face as a message.
There's no bait in my original post, it was an honest observation. If this thread makes the site seem cluttered then I honestly apologize. It just seemed like a discussion people would like to chime in on.
Of course, the thread did have several responses at the time it was removed. Maybe I misunderstood the reason.
I was told (by a mod) that threads like that were deleted because they were "inflammatory"
I simply argued that insulting Pearl's personal life is inflammatory as well and adds no more positive discussion than the afore mentioned subject.
My argument was for equality from the moderators. If a thread calling out the Pearl detractors is quickly deleted because it is considered inflammatory, I argue that bringing up Pearl's personal life is equally inflammatory and brings the same amount of intelligent discussion to the board.
That's the rub, and I think in it you will find your answer to your question. You think it is necessary to start a discussion about a discussion that already has 557 posts (and counting) and is currently one thread below this one. The very large majority of the "take that, haters" threads are the same. It appears that what you are trying to do is attempt to bolster your argument by creating multiple separate threads on the same issue, and then punctuate it by criticizing mods for merging all of the clutter. That doesn't work very well, BTW.
Hey, I'm all for discussion about whether Pearl is worthy of the #24 ranking he was bestowed in your thread, I just dont understand what Pearl's personal life has to do with it.
Edit: (Unless he eats babies)
