But then it would be so difficult to experience all of the beautiful artwork that Knoxville's leftist politicians have commissioned. Plus the quarter million or so the Mayor Lady spent on those picnic tables and porta potties under I-40.
Who needs art and culture when you can have Applebees/chilies, Wal-Mart, a big ole TV and a bug zapper?

Did you see my post # 42 about Claytor Lake?

I missed that.

Where did you live? When they built the dam they took all of my dad's grandfathers land except some steep areas. Now there are some high $$ houses on those hillsides with the road leading back there named after us. Those street signs have mysteriously disappeared a few times.

You're a fool if you think that the number of homeless congregating in the mission district today is comparable to 25 years ago.

Funny that you're such a social justice warrior yet make fun of people living in trailers. Typical liberal hypocrisy.

It's funny, the population of Knoxville has grown a lot in the past 25 years. Here's a fun tidbit: when populations grow, so do their social problems such as crime, drug use, and homelessness. Isn't it weird?

Dude, just because I think you're a ****y doesn't mean I'm a sjw or a liberal. Get that weak **** out of here and bring me a real retort.

Now, are you going to posting uninformed drivel or are you going to address the fact that N Broadway is, like, completely opposite of what you claimed?

At least you're just saying "Mayor Lady" instead of pretending to be informed and getting her name wrong 😂😂😂

Knoxville's population has barely changed since 1970. And you are calling me an uninformed pussy? Stop digging that hole that you're stuck in Scooter.

On the lake in an old farm house owned by John Barton. You get to it off the access road running along the interstate on the southeast side ( on the right side going up I-81). It's been 40 years, but I think that it was past mile marker 100. Maybe even up to 104??? You can see the access road and the driveway entrance from the interstate, but not the house. That piece of property had a huge amount of lake frontage.

I know the area you’re talking about, I’m sure my dad knows him.

Not to mention KARM execs regularly deny services to homeless and make tons of cash. Especially their CEO

I don't own any, and I certainly don't fear going out my door or living amongst people who do. That's not what irony is at all but it's glaringly obvious you are not prone to knowing about that which you rant.

I'm 30 and I remember riding to church downtown and those homeless folks and the mission being right there. 25+ years would qualify as decades.

In fact, if you want to talk about that neighborhood, let's talk about how Central/Broadway is now versus, say, 10 years ago? You could argue that it has undergone the biggest turnaround in Knoxville during that span.

I'm starting to think you don't ever leave your trailer, if you live here.
Lol our homeless population per capita has increased the last 20 years due to the mission district. Other cities and states ship their homeless here to get rid of them. It’s well known bc Rosen and crew make $$$ from it. Throw in the sex offenders and other criminals hiding from law enforcement in Illinois,Ohio, Florida etc that stay here. The Mayor and new mayor push dangerous policies. It’s why KPD is in the shape it’s in where they are begging anyone to come be an officer because they are severely understaffed and mismanaged

Has to be dead by now, or be about 100. He grew up there on his parents' farm, lived in town in Radford, and rented out the farm house. He also had a sister, and neither one ever married. He was an odd duck.

Sounds like a guy I used to pick up hay for.

It had a long gravel driveway through the woods with a couple of metal cattle guards to keep them from walking out. The cattle used to get in the lake. Been in there with them more than once. Barton was a thin, wiry man, probably around 60 years old in the late 70's. The house was an old white farm house (to the right at the end of the driveway) with a big front porch that looked toward the lake, but was well back from it.

I generally dont agree with seizure of private property or eminent domain...

But yall understand that we are being invaded and this is a matter of national security? No drama in that statement. There are already at LEAST 30 million invaders here. ILLEGALLY. 30 million.

National security in the realest sense. Not a tapped phone line. Securing the future of our nation. That national security. You libs who say a wall wont work are ignoring the obvious examples in Europe and Israel where a wall works very well. Will it be impregnable? No
Nobody said it would. Will it cut the flow of invaders by at least 90%???

Yes. Yes it will. Because it isnt just a wall. It is a wall with a road next to it and cameras to monitor penetrations if holes are cut...and border patrol constantly patrolling it.

To say a wall is a bad idea is to say our sovereignty and laws dont matter. In other words to either be an idiot or a liar.

You choose.

I am all for immigration. LEGAL IMMIGRATION. Fill out your papers and wait your turn...if it benefits OUR COUNTRY to let more people in at this time then come on in. THEN, you can proceed to learn English, study our history and customs, and prepare yourself to pass the tests to become a citizen.

Or...get the Hell out. There are enough ignorant people already here. See: Liberals.

You're welcome.

Did part of the property come to a point where you could see the dam? If so we camped there several times when I was a kid.

We are not being invaded. People are crossing an open border into our country. When I see Mexican or Canadian tanks and troops cross the border into the US, then I will agree we are being invaded.

Marcus, ask yourself one question. If the leaders of this country truly wanted to close the border and prevent illegal immigration, then why haven't they done it already? I think one of the primary reasons is money. Service businesses, construction, manufacturing and farming would be ground to a halt without the influx of cheap labor from south of the border. Who gives the money to elect politicians? Companies and people who run businesses like those I just listed. If you are a capitalist like me, you know the net benefit to our economy with illegal labor is far greater than the costs of them being here.

The fence is a joke. It is a typical "bread and circuses" campaign promise made to dumbasses who believed it would prevent illegal immigration and the import of narcotics. The fence is a boondoggle and it has already been proven to be easily penetrated. If Trump or any of his predecessors wanted to get serious about border protection, it would involve using the military. If we invaded northern Mexico and set up a no-man's land like what surrounded the Berlin Wall, that MIGHT actually work. But it probably won't. And it will never happen. There is far too much money at stake.
