If the fact that 25 - 30k of basketball fans (of the team he currently coaches) have signed a petition wanting a former coach to return, and articles have been written in national pubs about said petition haven't caused him to question his status....then he's dumber than he looks in the last 30 secs of most ballgames.

When you win by 30 the last 30 seconds are meaningless.

I don't think Martin's job is in jeopardy as much as some here do---right or wrong. Considering where his salary ranks in the conference compared to the number of games he's won, Cuonzo has been a good value for the athletic department---although you could argue the impact of ticket and memorabilia sales on the bottom line.

Regardless of my opinion, I just wonder if Cuonzo has felt at any point like his job is on the line?

I heard a comment com him the other night in response to Maymon and some other players sticking up for him in the media and he responded with:

"They don't need to fight, there's nothing to fight about. We are playing basketball and winning ball games. We keep moving. Anything outside of that I don't waste time and energy on it."

Thoughts?

Given that Hart did not give him at least a one year extension on his contract at the end of last season, I think he might have reflected on the possibility that this was a critical year relative to his current employment.

If it weren't for Bruce Pearl, I'd say the likelihood of Hart finding a humdinger (he might back into one a la Butch) are slim to none.

The problem is Martin has created question marks around his tenure, this year especially, and I think for any Tennessee fan it's going to be very difficult to watch BP coaching at another school and likely another school in our conference.

If BP says he wants to come back, Martin has to go. If BP says he wants to come back, and Hart doesn't bring him back, Hart has to go. If Hart doesn't have the answer to these questions already, Hart still has to go (and he should take Cheek with him and not let the door hit him you know where).
