No more beating around the bush. No dancing around the question. No "depends on whether Martin would still be fired if we made it" - because we obviously don't know right now and we can't root for or against something based on an unknown hypothetical.

All I want is a straight answer. Yes or no.

Absolutely. And I think that Martin should still be fired barring a sweet 16 appearance. He's had 3 years and teams capable of making the tourney....and he hasn't.

Lets assume you are the majority owner of a NBA team. The team hes never won a championship and in fact haven't had a winning season in 10+ years. You have good fans but ticket sales, merchandising, etc is suffering...if you can't stop the bleeding you may to consider drastic measures including moving the team... A week of the season remains and you were neck and neck with a couple of other teams as to who was going to end up with the worst record. The other 2 teams have a less difficult remaining schedule than you do.

The team that finishes with the worst record for the season has a much higher statistical chance to get the first draft choice in the upcoming draft.

In the draft there is a 'can't miss' once in a lifetime player available...a Lebron James kind of player.

The way the rules are constructed there is no negotiating in terms of salary and his salary is predetermined regardless if he's a 'typical run of the mill' number 1 draft pick or a 'once in a lifetime player.

Do you order your team to do whatever is required to make certain they finish with the worst record....bottom line do you order your team to intentionally lose games?

Yes or No?

sell it and live high on the hog till i drop dead :) oh sorry that wasn't an option :)

Not sure you'll get many "No's" even though it would mess up the narrative that many have constructed.

You can't answer this question with a straight up Yes o No.

Yes means Martin is back for at least a couple of more years. His lazy recruiting and keeping UT on the bubble will continue. You really think UT is going to win a game in the tourney anyway?

No means Martin may lose his job. I'm assuming Pearl is not happening, but there are many young tourney experienced
coaches who won't settle for projects that would jump at the chance to come to Knoxville.

If you are a general, are you focused on a battle or the war? Do you sacrifice a troop in order to save erybody else?
Or do you go into each battle with poorly trained and prepped troops and keep doing the same things, ultimately ending in total destruction.

Hard to root against a team, but I have found myself looking for the knockout punch with dooley and now Martin. Better off for the program for him not to make it, imo, for our future.

I can fully understand both sides. The way I look at it is similar to a corporation as well. If we have fledgling company whose survival is at risk, do you hope to have a good year even though it's a fluke and the company will be in more trouble next year and the year after due to leadership? Or do you hope management fails because they aren't good, and another management team comes in and restabilizes the company after another subpar year this year.
Sacrifice for the good of the program, imo, if it means leadership is changing.

And you guys really can't tell me you were pulling for Dooley towards to the end of his last year. I don't know how anyone would've wanted him back another year.

I've never wanted to root against the Vols ever in my life. Even with Dooley, because quite frankly football doesn't come first to me. I'm not saying I want them to miss the tourney, but I won't be mad like I usually am if we do miss it. But what is the point in being a 9 seed and getting bounced 1st or 2nd round then come back with way less talent and go through the whole process again next year? Doesn't make me any less than a fan though. I just want better for my team. But I'll make it clear I'm not rooting for them to lose but I won't be as disappointed as I usually am after a loss.

I think most reasonable UT think this way. Unfortunately, that's probably less than 50% on this board.
