If you are a general, are you focused on a battle or the war? Do you sacrifice a troop in order to save erybody else?
Or do you go into each battle with poorly trained and prepped troops and keep doing the same things, ultimately ending in total destruction.

Hard to root against a team, but I have found myself looking for the knockout punch with dooley and now Martin. Better off for the program for him not to make it, imo, for our future.

No!!!! Going to the NCAA, at this point, would be bad for the team!!!

Get to the tourney (1) Martin likely remains the coach and may get a small bonus.

(2) This team underperformed but had a good roster, so next season, we will have a less talented roster. Meaning, that if we only won 20 games with a good roster, then next season's roster will get us 12 wins. Martin is fired! Rather it be in the next few days or at the end of next season.

(3) Should we go to the NCAA, and he keeps his job, then next season, he will be a lame duck coach. This will affect attendence in a negative way and it will affect recruiting in a negative way.

(4) If you know that he is not the answer on an long term basis, then go ahead and cut ties, so we can hire the coach who will lead us to the promise land.

If you are marriage minded, and the person you are dating is fun to be with but there is no way that you would marry them, then move on, so you can free yourself up to find the person that you will eventually marry. Martin is not the long term answer!!!!

Go back and give the woman a chance that broke your heart. Forgive her. She might have lied to you, but she made you better, more excited, happier, cared more about you more, made you a more successful person. Didn't make life dull. Life's to short to stay with a mediocre person that isn't going to get you anywhere in life. She's been out of the game for a while and realizes how much you need her and how much you need her. You both go together like peas & carrots, Mac & cheese, PB & J, Pearl & Sun Tan City. How do you like that analogy?

Firstly, I don't care who's coaching UT. I want them to always succeed. So, yes I would.

Secondly, here's my position with the team for those who don't know. I'm not going to call for the coach's head just yet. I'm waiting to see if

A. Do we make the NCAA tourney?
B. If so, how far do we go in the tourney?

Obviously, if we don't make the tourney, It's time for Cuonzo to go. If we make it to the Sweet 16 or the 2nd round (if only second round, we must be at least competitive), then I think he should get more time.

it would be hard to fire CCM if the team makes the NCAA tourney, which i don't think they will, you couldn't let him go,that would tell other coaches that you may get fired in a hurry, even if you made the Tournament

Wanting your team to lose is a complete contradiction to the meaning of being a fan. So go ahead and pick another school to be a "fan" of.

20 people have voted no.? Absolutely pathetic.

Just for a moment, let's imagine, that we can go back in time. It is now 2012!

You know that Dooley is NOT the answer but if we make it to a bowl game, he is likely to retain his job.

Would you rather have: Scenerio #1, we lose to Missouri, Vandy & UGA and Dooley is fired and we hire Butch and begin the "brick by brick"

Scenerio # 2, we beat UGA, Vandy & Missouri and make a bowl game. Thus keeping Dooley and Sal for another season and Butch goes to Colorado or Purdue and we have no "brick by brick" and no top recruiting class this season.

I wonder what results a "Do you want a new basketball coach? Yes or No" poll would deliver......

I see your point, but its not about me or you or VN. Its about UT and the players that decided to play their college career's here. IMO

And while I agree it would be awesome to have a better coach leading our team, it is better for the program to have fans support their team not their personal feelings. JMO

Been a Tennessee fan for about 50 years. First game I saw had Widby and Hendrix in it. Can't believe some of our 'fans' are going to be pulling for Vanderbilt. Not me, go Vols.

Scenario 2 means we finish the season 8-4 and go to a good bowl. I'll take Scenario 2 and replace the "no top recruiting class" with "top recruiting class" since we would be coming off a really good season.

Some people can see past the day in front of them. What's best for the program is best. Period. Doesn't matter at all what you think about it or the people that understand the big picture.
This program starts over when CM is gone. No question. So do you want to insure starting over now, or do you want to lay in a coma for another year and wait on the inevitable. You make it emotional and personal. I'm the one thinking about the programs future. Not you.

Whether or not I like the coach I will always always ALWAYS pull for the Vols to win and succeed. Doing otherwise is against my being. GBO

Doesn't a true fan also want what's best for the future of the program? What outcome brings more success? Martin making a brief appearance in the Tourney will do more harm than good. This poorly coached team is not capable of making a run because they don't have a decent point guard. No one is reliable from outside except Jordan. They turn the ball over too much. They have no bench.

Let's start fresh next year...

I don't think making the tournament matters because we'll get spanked but I for sure want this team to at least experience it and have a reason to screw my bracket all up by picking UT to go to the Final Four :D

lol and I just realized the play in game is not even on the bracket or is it? I guess the TBA team is going to the final four then!

You can't answer this question with a straight up Yes o No.

Yes means Martin is back for at least a couple of more years. His lazy recruiting and keeping UT on the bubble will continue. You really think UT is going to win a game in the tourney anyway?

No means Martin may lose his job. I'm assuming Pearl is not happening, but there are many young tourney experienced
coaches who won't settle for projects that would jump at the chance to come to Knoxville.
I don't think there is many coaches that would want to coach the Vols because of the fans. That is in football as well as basketball. There is a high percentage of so called fans that want the Vols to lose and not make the tournament or a bowl game. We want to believe that we are the best fans in America, but folks it is very bad with this program. You should never want you team to fail.

The two outcomes aren't mutually exclusive.

Cuonzo has failed for three years. Is one game in the tournament worth two or three more years of failure?
