Doak Walker…Sampson Not a Finalist

Hampton and Jeanty belong there.

Hampton had 1300 yards last season and 1500
This season? And would have been a take if he transferred last year.

Sampson will be All-SEC. 1st team. That’s amazing

I believe most of you are missing the point here. Dylan nor the staff nor the team are concerned with this. I’m sure Dylan would like the honor but he did not get as many carries as he could have that may have helped him win the award. The game plan with Dylan especially with some depth concerns at RB has been to keep him as fresh as possible while also getting the most out of him.

This phases no one within our program. This has been about winning games and preserving legs for the long game - not awards.

As idiotic is is that Sampson is not a Doak Walker finalist, there was a far greater snub today. Travis Hunter was not named a finalist for the Jim Thorpe award. Deion was not pleased. He says Hunter can have his Jim Thorpe award and goes on a tirade about the integrity of the award being lost.

lol lol lol lol Sampson means a HELL of a lot more to his team than your hero. You're on the wrong board.. Hunter wants the attention, if he cared about being a finalist he'd be a one way superstar... He's not the best DB or WR. He's a social media star...

I'd take hunter any day of the week though :)

He also is playing against competition that's on ... ahem ... another level. Not saying the kid isn't the real deal, but does anyone seriously believe he's putting up those numbers in the SEC?
I don’t, but Jeanty did go off for almost 200 yards and 3 TDs against Oregon—at more than 7 yards per rush. And while Sampson has crushed it in the SEC, 10 of his 22 touchdowns came in 4 out of conference games.

Sampson 100% deserves to be listed over the other two guys, but Jeanty earned a win.

Hampton and UNC have played the same number of ranked teams that I have this season:

ZERO

and they’re 6-5

Sampson leads the SEC in carries. 6th in the country. Ahead of the Iowa guy. We haven’t been saving his legs. He’s been a workhorse.

Well you don’t really judge a corner solely on counting stats

He has more than 40 less carries than the guy who is going to win it and more than 50 less touches than the other backs because he’s not used as much in the passing game.

They have definitely done a good job of preserving him even as he led the league because he could have had a lot more touches than he does and that was the point. It wasn’t a comparison even though it’s not what you seem to think.

He’s having one of the best seasons in recent memory for an SEC running back. They would be all over him if he played for Bama or Georgia. This is indeed shameful. Biased media is biased.
He needs 320 yards to exceed Cody Schrader of Missouri's SEC leading total from last year. With at least 2 games Sampson probably exceeds Schrader. Right now he has the fifth highest rushing total in the last 5 seasons.
