O'Connell was initially selected by New England to be Tom Brady's backup. Played in a couple of games there that first season before being waived the following year & then bouncing around the league for a bit.Was trying to figure out where Dobbs’ new coach had played before becoming a coach… not sure if true because I rarely trust anything I read on Wikipedia, but it says he was born in Knoxville, TN? Anyone know if that’s true?
Not sure if Josh will ever earn a day 1 starter position. He definitely deserves to be a long term backup for a team. However, I think he has cement his legacy as an emergency QB for any team that needs one. He has proven 3 times now you can plug him in and he will ball. I have a feeling anytime a QB1 goes down and that team doesn't have a viable 2, Josh Dobbs is going to be on speed dial.
Proud of him and glad he is finally getting opportunities he has worked so hard for.
He should send those draft pick dreamers a thank you card. I’m sure he is very glad he wasn’t facing that Cleveland defense today behind Arizonas trash offensive line. Got to have a career moment in his hometown. I hope his parents were there for it. It’s like a half hour drive I think so I’m sure they were.
Btw, is there a college fanbase that follows and roots for their players at the next level like Tennessee fans do? I doubt it.
There were moments yesterday where I definitely didn’t know what he was doing and he made something happen, except for the couple early disastersWith AZ's trash roster, he put up 24 the week before against the Ravens, who had the #1 D...and that was probably Dobbs' worst game as a Cardinal.
JD is still the guy where too often you're wondering WTF he's doing, but in a league where so few guys can make plays at the QB position...he can make plays. With AZ's scrubs he was 16th in 3rd down conversion %. And apparently, in MN, he doesn't even have to know the playbook or his teammates, LOL.
I read that, just interested to know if he was actually born in Knoxville like Wikipedia says... thought that was interesting.O'Connell was initially selected by New England to be Tom Brady's backup. Didn't say he isn't deserving of being a day 1 starter. Just that I don't think he will get the chance, as I agree with your assessment. He's definitely a top 32 QB. Maybe even top 20 because right now it's hard to name even 15 reliable starters. The problem is nobody is content with the 20th-best QB unless he's 22 YO and with ceiling to spare.
