Dobbs traded to Cards

Probably true and I agree that Pittsburgh was his best opportunity.

But, there are some examples of guys that bounced around for several years before catching on. Warner was in and out of the league a time or two before his breakout season.
Arizona opened the day with fifth-round pick Clayton Tune, David Blough, and Jeff Driskel joining McCoy on the roster at quarterback.

Arizona just traded for Dobbs. I can see Driskle and Blough both being cut before regular season. Dobbs has a legit chance to be starter very soon for the Cards. McCoy will have health issues and I can see Dobbs starting by 3rd game of regular season.

Warner didn't bounce around at all. He played Canadian or something before making the Rams teams. Once he had a spot on a NFL team he was the starter in less than a year and Superbowl MVP shortly after.

Undrafted then connected with Packers and Browns and arena football and maybe Canadian too. He was in a worse position than Dobbs before he had his breakout year with the Rams.

I’m not saying Dobbs is Warner just that there are examples where a QB doesn’t immediately find a place after college.

I honestly don't watch any NFL games.
I'm not proud of it, just uninterested these days.

I followed the Titans for years, but since we went to some games in 2022, just stopped.

Like MLB, players change teams too often for my personal tastes, so team means nothing. I don't know who is still on what team and that kills my interest level.
I liked it when good players would spend at least half of their career with one team. That made it easy to invest my emotions or time watching games. If I like a player or a team, it is all fleeting.
I feel this. I was a hug Dallas Mavericks fan when Nowitzki was the face of the franchise, but since he retired I've almost completely lost interest in the NBA.

Dobbs is never going to be a long-term starter in the NFL. His best situation would be to show enough to establish himself as a solid #2 option. That is not a bad gig, and could lead to 6-10 more years at a couple of million dollars per year. Here’s to hoping that happens.

A great former Vol who has done nothing but represent himself, his family and the University well. I will always root for Josh Dobbs.

The Cardinals are playing the Vikings in Minnesota tomorrow at 1:00pm est. If you have a VPN you can direct it to a hub in (or close to) Minnesota or Arizona and tune in the local FOX affiliate to see the game. Good luck to Josh. I'd LOVE to see him earn the starting spot!

I believe the nay sayers are going to win this one. He'll never have long term success as a starting NFL QB. He would have done it by now if it was going to happen. Not beating out Mason Rudolph(who is a horrible QB) is a telling sign.

On the plus side, He's having a nice career as a backup without getting beat up and making a ton of money
No shame in getting paid for wearing the headset and holding clipboard on sideline while getting paid as backup...I would take it in a heartbeat...

Arizona current OC was in Cleveland previous 3 years. Dobbs is probably well versed in plays and terminology. He should be able to hit the ground running, Colt Mc coy is 36 years old I doubt he as it in him to stay healthy they entire year. Dobbs could be in line for some serious playing time. He would be only one play away from seeing the field.

Let's keep it real....if Dobbs doesn't seize this opportunity then he's never gonna be a quality NFL starter.Im sure he knows this after bouncing around more than a coked up hooker. He knows the system plus teams don't give up draft capitol for camp bodies or PS guys. They fully think he's capable of being "The guy" but in the end he's got a future as a decent backupno matter.Best of luck hope he runs away with the job

Can you name the qb who starts for them? Did he win Heisman? Happy for one of our two well known ambassadors. Can you name the other? No his name is not Eli...ha

Kyler Murray, who at the moment is recovering from an injury. As of the moment of the trade, Dobbs is the backup to the Cardinals previously 2nd string QB, Colt McCoy.

It’s not a bad life. Chase Daniel made a good $41M living off a 16 year career of doing such.

He was just named the back-up QB for the Browns today. Weird.
I saw that yesterday, then last night watching some of the Steelers-Falcons game, it ran across the ticker about the trade. The report I saw earlier yesterday said he had been named the number 2 quarterback for the Browns.

Just being in the league at any depth position, is really something. Nothing wrong with making a career out of learning, mentoring, and the occasional action. Tyler Bray had him a career on it too.
