Call in and news talk radio?

Anyone that calls in that has even the slightest negativity towards the lady Vols basketball program gets constantly shut down by doc. It's funny too because you can tell Heather and Jeff understand that the state of the program is a hot topic worth discussion, but they just keep their mouth shut because he's the boss.

I'm not sure how anyone can listen to that crap, if it's not about the Lady Vols or Dearstones golf game it will be dismissed.

Dearstone is a lady Vol homer. Listening to him defend Holly is a joke. He will cut you off and talk crazy if anyone is critical of the lady Vols. He shouldn't be on the program while calling games. He defended Russell's play Saturday and said we shouldn't expect much from the #1 recruit in the country. The other two are scared of him so they just agree. It's hard to listen to.

It seems that all of the media wants to not touch on the Holly Warlick coaching job "gift".

This morning in the paper were two vastly different views on the game... One said, "don't be fooled by this team" the other writes of the "progress that this team is making". Neither one will reference HW or coaching staff.

+++++++++

How bout that “They’re Back”song that the band-wagoneers were using as a war-cry...… Boy, the clairvoyance of that phrase is mind-boggling…They just didn't tell us what they meant... What was back was the too-frequently subbed, "no confidence in coaching from the players" and "no confidence in their players" mentality.... BTW who is our coach again? I don’t remember hearing about or reading about her much this morning.

+++++++

They're Back,HUh.. Hope not...

We gave up 30 points to a known scorer. to the “go-to player” for that team ... we let her go off for 30…. Unacceptable. Even a MS coach would have boxed and one’d her or something. Put speedsters and expendable players on her so their fouls don’t hurt the team as much and make her life miserable for 2 hours.

We beat #2 and lose to #worse… This type of play is historically a trademark of a team in need of new leadership.

Our best recruit (Kamera); Her visit was during a pathetic loss… She’s probably not thinking highly of us right now.

Did you see it, 4 maybe 5 consecutive bring downs by a guard that went about 15 dribbles deep and ended in bad shot selection,…But “play on” seemed to be the coach’s strategy. . . Hey guys,,Middleton just finished dribbling... Nope... not yet.........

++++++++++

This tournament time folks... win-or-go-home basketball. and HW is readily admitting that they are still building the team's chemistry. Right now, she shouldn't be teaching, she should be focused only one using the players effectively in a proven offensive scheme.

I really don’t know why HW seems to be so untouchable the Sentinel writers … The morning show with the trio and others all seem to want to blame the team and not the coach.
The “team” hasn't changed:
• It was was considered top 5 preseason.
• The team is full of All Americans
• The Coaching staff, though not a new, is rebuilding…NOT the team.

You can't blame this on Diamond... You have to put the blame on the staff.... Diamond is being the Diamond that she has to be in this ridiculous "offense?"scheme.

Doc will be that way until Holly gets fired, then he will tell you what he really thinks. He is chosen by UT to call the games, but to think that people are stupid enough to believe it's not on the head coach, he's fooling himself. Holly gets paid a lot of money to lead this program and its going the wrong way. Great coaches will tell you losses are on the the coach, wins are on the players.

I listed to Doc explain why he says/thinks what he does about the state of the program this AM. I usually turn them off they are so irritatingly dumb. But I was in fun mood and needed a laugh. I simply have lost my fire for the program.

His rationale is that they are not going to fire Holly for one bad season. Probably true. Says that it is on the players for mental mistakes, lack of energy, and poor shooting. Probably true. He blames the lack of recruiting on the Title IX and alleged sexual assault issues. Nope - not buying that one.

What he doesn't say is that Holly runs the wrong system for the roster she has recruited. What he never admits is she plays the wrong players at times. What he will not acknowledge is that it is totally Holly's roster and that there are no commitments today for next year's class. If they do not perform the way LV's should perform it is because she recruited the wrong players, she is unable to motivate them, she is unable to develop them, and she runs the wrong system for them.

Other than that everything is fine, Doc. What a goofball.

Doc trying to protect his job calling the LV games.

This deal with Holly makes me think of Fulmer's last few years. The program has dropped to mediocrity, some fans want a coaching change, some want to hold on to the past.

Who is Doc--Dearstone? He has no crediblity because he works for the university and the basketball program, so quite obviously is not going to be critical--or objective. He's trying to protect his job. I don't blame him for that, but he shouldn't be hosting a sports-talk show, if that's what he is doing, or even on it regularly as a guest.

That statement is pure homer bullsh*t.

Recruiting issues have to do with opposing coaches and AAU coaches destroying us on the recruiting trail.

Perhaps it might impact 2017 and 2018 but that doesn't explain 2015 or 2016.

It seems reasonable to me to be a factor. If I'm a parent of a young daughter being recruited by UT, I would definitely be paying close attention to the lawsuit and I would be questioning the UT coaches about why I should let my daughter come to UT.

If I am an opposing coach, same thing. I'm telling recruits that there is no lawsuit or "rape culture" at my school, so come here instead of there (UT).

Whether any recruits are affected by all this is unknown, but I think it reasonable to assume it's a factor.

Seven McDonalds All-Americans and they play like THAT? It is on the coach, no question about it. No movement, no ball movement, no back screens , pathetic passing and ball handling, stupid timeouts that break runs of ours, poor situation play , looks like a bunch of Y girls playing a pick-up game. Getting beat by TEAMS composed of much less talented girls that know what they are doing. Little or no hustle after loose balls, 50-50 balls. Hard to watch this bunch.

Yes, in the rush to make Holly completely responsible for every possible problem in LV land, this lawsuit is being dismissed as a contributing factor to recruiting woes. But if I am a player or a parent and I am choosing between schools--and one is accused of having a RAPE CULTURE and being generally hostile toward women athletics--those attributes probably do not go on the plus side of the pro versus cons ledger.

All big media attention about the title 9 lawsuit etc surfaced after the early signing date so I don't but that as an explanation

Yep, press types in the "in" crowd don't like having to gain the access again with a new group.

At this point, we have no choice but to concentrate on the present..can't change the past and worrying about the future can wait.
We're going to get in the Tournament. We know this team is capable of winning... having shown it in a string of victories. They continue to have a solid fan base ready and willing to support them.
I believe they are going to turn the page and create some real Tournament damage. The Lady Vols are far from dead!!!

I stopped listening to them a year ago. This team is poorly coached in all aspects of the game. There are too many parts of the game that are poorly coached, it would be a book. The team has very good athletes, but little basketball IQ. Holly should see that and coach to their strengths. Mercedes could be very dominant - don't laugh -if taught how to properly play the post position. I'm not an expert, but played her position in school.I don't know how you can have this much talent and not see what's going on. As much as I love UT, I think there needs to be a change in coaching. When you can't recruit young ladies to come to UT, changes need to be made. If you are a parent of a potential recruit, and you are worried about the lawsuit, you probably don't want to be a Lady VOL in the first place. Most colleges are going to be in the same situation soon. It not a UT thing, it's a national thing. The university of tennessee is as safe as any colleges in the country. You don't have to be a donor to support change.

Is Dearstone nuts? If you don't expect much from a number 1 player then why waste the time recruiting them. That is one of the craziest statements that Dearstone could ever make. Number one players are number one because they are potential game changers. There is no excuse for Holly except she is doing the best she can, except her best is simply not good enough.

All of it is a factor for upcoming recruiting, coaching, sexual harrassment, player chemistry, failure to live up to the hype, etc however 2016 recruiting, or lack thereof, is on the coaching staff. Bad offense is on the coaching staff and bad handling of players are all on the coaching staff. The players lack of growth is all on the coaching staff. Even if there was not a sexual harassement complaint, there is enough negativity surrounding the health of this program to discourage top recruits from considering to play for this coaching staff, for opposing recruiters the harassment is only topping on an already declining situation.
