So that's where you wrong my friend, to do anything good, worthy or win championships, you have to care, you have to love it, all of it. So the programs not changing, the fans are because of the state of the program this year. Got it.

Hey, maybe the players dont' feel like she cares enough? Who the fux knows?

whatever, the record speaks for itself. she is the HEAD coach and is responsible.

I'll bet if this isn't the reason, it is so smart, he will start using it.

I am constantly in awe of their lack of sports knowledge. Example:

A few months back they were talking about the SEC and receivers that had gone on to success in the NFL. Outside of a few Vols, they were able to scrape together one Florida and one South Carolina receiver's name. I called in asking if they had ever heard of a guy named Hines Ward that played at Georgia. Doc told me, yeah, but he didnt do all that much in the NFL did he?

Seriously "sports"-radio personality? He is FAR and away the greatest Steeler WR, statistically (in before the Lynn Swann love): Pittsburgh Steelers All-time Leading Receivers | The Football Database

Also ranks in the top 15 for all time receptions and TDs in the NFL. So, yeah. . .

Jolette Law said at the beginning of the season that this was the first season she felt like she knew what Holly wanted.

Wow this is telling..... reminds me of beginning of Ariel's senior year when she said something to the effect that the team recognizes that it needs to listen to the head coach, and promised to do that over the course of the season.....speaks volumes by what one does not say

I listen to their show as often as I can....I may not agree with everything they say, but they are a fun group....The time Heather and Doc got into it on the air was radio at it's finest....

That was between Heather and Jeff. Great meltdown by Heather.

Call in and news talk radio?

Anyone that calls in that has even the slightest negativity towards the lady Vols basketball program gets constantly shut down by doc. It's funny too because you can tell Heather and Jeff understand that the state of the program is a hot topic worth discussion, but they just keep their mouth shut because he's the boss.

I've noticed this for along time. Doc is the only one that is correct, everyone else is wrong.....

Caring for something doesn't guarantee success. It only shows that you are passionate about the task at hand and willing to try your hardest. Very few coaches can reach the top, and remain in that position.

Players will never play hard for a coach that don't care about them, period. Sometimes you'll play for your teammates, or try to find an outside source but the coach has to be an inspiration too. wuteva?

A lot of coaches, poor manager or leader fail to understand this, Pat was great at this, a strength of Holly but her needs to be more demanding.

Doc...

the girls are playing the way they are because "Holly was patient" throughout the season with them.

and...

"Uconn doesnt play defense, they just outscore everybody." LOL

SIGH, every morning I dislike him more and more. Needs to just be the Jeff and Heather show (or at least a 3rd that has more objectivity)

Such a conflict of interest for the channel being a sports news and talk call in show when no one is allowed to call in with any criticism* whatsoever when in relation to topics centered around Doc's OTHER job.

*criticism comes in many forms from healthy to unhealthy (productive/non-productive, etc) so I get that you have to pull the reigns a bit in regard to the more unhealthy variants of it.

++++++++++

P4L, you are an enigma... your posts are either spot-on or "wuteva's" ....... And this one is spot-on!

This is more a gender issue than anything... "Boys don't care who you are until they are sure you know more than them, where, girls don't care what you know until they know "who you are"... When i get a new team the first thing i do is purposely interact and speak to each and every player, individually. If you don't establish a personal repertoire with each player, you never get them fully...This is why the girls are standoffish looking... Want proof, look at the pre-game talk with Nared stuffing her face during the pre-game talk... They should be putting on their game-face, not feeding their munchy-face.

Right now these girls are delving back into their AAU days psychologically and playing that style of BB. It is recognizable to a coach that has coached this style. If you notice the past two games, the boring "curl off the elbow pick" and, "stand around while one person dribbles" is taking a backseat to "open-court play". The individual step-up play is off the charts compared to any part of the regular season.... It's tourney time. Not coaching day-one fundamental time...
