Doctors of VN

Had a meth tweeker that got a good portion of her lower leg ripped off by a dog down to the tendons and bone.

And some toes that were hanging on by a thread after they met a lawnmower.

Nice little anatomy lesson

If they would have left it in there a little longer, could have had some toe-jam.

Every. Damn. Holiday.

I'm not sure but venomous spider bites can blister and then drain.

Hmmmm
It’s been a sore spot for awhile. When I coughed I could feel a slight burn. Considered it a pulled muscle.
GF was over this weekend and spotted it and brought it to my attention. It’s about the size of a half dollar and dark brown/blackish. (It under my left shoulder blade)

Thanks for your help coug....

Yeah, if it doesn't heal on it's own in a few days it's probably worth having your doctor look at it.

A thing I know now from working in the ER:

Apparently shooting up wasp spray is now a thing. Apparently people are spraying wasp spray on a screen from a door or window, hooking battery cables to it to rapidly heat it up, scraping the residual off, and shooting it up. It’s apparently “poor mans meth”.

What. The. ****.

I heard teens were drinking hand sanitizer to get drunk.

Hell, I’ve had patients try this. The look of defeat on their face and shame in their eyes when I told them the hand sanitizer we use is NA was a combination of priceless and sad. We don’t have mouth wash in our facility for this reason however.

But wasp spray? Who thinks of this ****?

Seriously? I've not seen this yet. Teens, adults, or both? Holy crap people are stupid/desperate. What's the effects you're seeing? Anything to watch out for?

Well our one regular that comes in after using it is convinced he has snakes living in his belly.

Typically paranoia, hallucinations, and sometimes aggression.

So "normal", to a point. I just wonder how our normal treatments are going to react. I.E. Succ and bath salts could be pretty deadly.
Didn't know if you all had seen anything like that yet.

And who in the world thinks "Hey, I have an idea, let's spray bug killer on a hot metal plate and then snort the residue. And if that's not good enough, I'll melt it back down and inject it. With meth."

Yeah, pretty similar to a bad meth trip per se. Haven’t seen any interventional reactions yet tho luckily.

On another note, there was a woman who left the ER AMA twice today.. she was sitting in the lobby again when I just left.
