Does anyone else hope Arian Foster

No I hope Arian has a successful season with the Texans(until they play the Titans). We can act like NCAA football players don't take benefits and whine about what happened 5 years ago. Or we can take some prune juice and let that **** go.

You guys make me laugh. He's trying to help make a change in NCAA policy. He wasn't trying to get his school in trouble.
I actually disagree with the current push to pay players, but I get why some are standing up for their side of the argument.
Foster just used this documentary as an avenue to make a case against the NCAA. In no way is he anti-Tennessee.

So he admitted he got some free tacos, big deal. This a black eye for the NCAA way more than it is for Tennessee, especially right now.

Why does everyone keep saying all he admitted to was getting free tacos? That was one of the things he said, but he also said “I don’t know if this will throw us into an NCAA investigation — my senior year, I was getting money on the side".

Some of you need a vacation. It's a bout damn time a star player says he received extra benefits. These kids need to be paid and it needs to start yesterday. You think any of these guys are here for education? No they are here for the NFL. Because they have to be. The universities around this country are making millions upon millions, personally i think 5 k per semester is fair for student athletes of all gender. But it must be given in increments and not at once. Because with that could come trouble.

Five grand per semester would mean the end of a lot of non-revenue sports. Smaller schools couldn't afford that for just the football team, much less all sports.

They can do it, at bcs schools. We aren't talking about UTC here. Even if its just 5 k for the year. These schools are making huge profits. They can afford it. Dont kid yourselves

Because the only thing he went into detail about was getting free tacos. If he was getting $5,000 dollar handshakes he wouldn't have been so poor that he needed Fulmer to get him some tacos.

VN, you anger me. Foster is a VFL, shut up. If we/he did the crime, then we/he should do the time. I hope the NCAA comes down hard on us quickly and says

"No PostSeason Bowl game for 2013 as punishment for Couch and Foster and that's it."

Because a 5-7 team will be sure to not get a post-season bid anyway it will finish our punishment before next season's campaign begins.

What are you talking about? Foster may be a VFL but his latest "cause" of trying to get college players paid certainly didn't show it. He threw his alma mater under the bus. He could've made his point without doing potential harm to our program.

Do the time? He didn't say UT paid him, just that he took money on the side. So your statement about UT doing the time if they did the crime doesn't compute. But by mentioning UT in his selfish statements, it brings undo and unnecessary negative attention to a struggling program in dire need of positive things, not negative ones.

I hope you are correct. I just did not read it that way. I guess we'll see when the documentary comes out. Just dont know why someone would say I received money if all he received was food. Again, hope you are correct because if so I don't see how the NCAA does anything, but if he is flat out admitting to taking cash we could see serious ramifications and he had got to know that. And if it is cash, lets hope it doesn't tie back to the coaching staff in any way at all (even turning a blind eye).

Thinking out loud.......Taco Foster had a penchant for laying the ball on the ground in key situations of some big games......could he have been involved in a point shaving scheme? Took cash for losing games?

It makes a lot of sense when you look at when he fumbled, against whom he fumbled, and the end result....afterall, he said he was starving.:whistling:

Nope. Instead I wish every player in the NFL that received improper benefits would speak out. Time to stop the charade.

I would support him if everyone (or at least a very large number) of players came out with him. I just don't want our program that is already struggling to build back up to take yet another major set-back because one guy thinks he can take on the world.

I have two things that will stand out in my memory of Arian Foster in 10-20 years: he under achieved at UT and fumbled at critical times costing us in big losses; and he threw his alma mater under the bus over his own selfishness and stupidity.

Wow, I sure hope thats not the case (and I don't think he'd be coming out if that was the case), but dang he did seem to fumble at the worst possible times and seems like frequently within 5 yards of the end zone. And he said in the interview that he might do something stupid. Again though, I find it unlikely he'd be speaking up if he shavex points.

If Arian tells you that he was hungry, then that's that. He may have been hungry that night but if he says he was hungry that night, then that's enough to get a whole lot started. He told SI that you don't have to give the people of TN a reason to think about dropping his VFL status or anything like that. If you drop somebody, you drop them to make the team better...simple as that. He's cool with that. He's all about that. The people in TN deserve to have a winner. It's simple as that. It goes further than that.

If he was hungry, he was hungry. It is as simple as that. It ain't about that at all. It's easy to sum it up if you're just talking about tacos. We're sitting here, and he was supposed to be the franchise player, and we're talking about tacos. I mean listen, we're sitting here talking about tacos, not a game, not a game, not a game, but we're talking about tacos. Not the game that he went out there and die for and play every game last it's his last but we're talking about tacos man. How silly is that?

Now I know that he's supposed to lead by example and all that but he's not shoving that aside like it don't mean anything. He knows it's important, he honestly does but we're talking about tacos. We're talking about tacos man. We're talking about tacos. We're talking about tacos. We're not talking about the game. We're talking about tacos. When you went to Neyland Staduim, and you saw him play, you've seen him play right, you've seen him give everything he's got, but we're talking about tacos right now

Cry me a river, Arian. I survived on $20 a week with no meal plan for a year. Kids all across the state would do anything to play football for the vols. It's a privilege to play and very few get to, so grow a pair, be a man and be thankful for the sweaty wads of cash you have now as you cruise around in your luxury vehicle.

Just goes away?

There are a lot of names I could call him but they would get deleted on this board. Hopefully UT disassociates themselves from this scum bag. Hope he never shows his ugly face in Knoxville again. Definitely not a VFL.

if i never see him again it will be to soon

I am split on this. I would prefer Foster had kept his mouth shut about this. With issues going on at schools other than Tennessee, the last thing we needed was an ex-player waving red flags in our direction. But there are hypocritical issues with the NCAA. It's like trying to save a tree, and ignoring the forest. Hopefully, the power conferences will get together and address some of these issues when they meet after the first of the new year to discuss the issues we heard Slive hint about at media days. However, if the former players do not draw some attention to these issues, the talking heads will never address them.

In one sense, I can admire Foster's concern for things he sees as problems. However, as many folks do, when they start talking, they say too much. Next time he puts his mouth in gear, I hope he jump starts his brain first.

So he makes a statement which he pretty much says may or may not throw UT into an NCAA investigation .... and you don't think this is anti-UT? It's at a minimum extremely selfish as he uses UT and drags them into an undesirable place in an effort to further his "cause". I guarantee you there are former players and coaches at UT that lowered their opinion of him after this. I've heard Coaches Majors and Matthews be very critical of him... as they should be.

If any of you think the NCAA investigates this.. Well I don't know what to tell you. AF and his legal team were very careful with the statute of limitations and the way he worded things so that UT would not get in trouble.
