Does Florida Suck B/c of Bad Coaching?

 well maby Charlie is not the only bad coach at ufla. I hope they don't make any coaching changes. :hi:

Every time they show a sideline shot of Muschamp, he looks like he's thinking that this always worked at Texas, so what the hey!

I remember grabbing the sports section and going straight to the AP poll to see where we were, but we were always there somewhere. I want to go back there and I think a lot of people are going to bed tonight questioning the status quo.

Ah, the good days. This doesn't speak well of me, but I also remember laughing at the other ACC/Big East schools when they started to make noise about "competing" with the SEC. Back then almost any SEC team could have handled them easily. Guess it's still true to some extent though, just not as much as it was then.

Its all about the system that Meyer ran and what the new staff is trying to run. You give Weis a few years with a smart pro system type QB and he would put up big numbers. What scares me with our staff is I don't have a clue of what type of system they want to run.

I think they missed on some highly rated WR recruits the last few years. DuBose, Dunbar, Hammond don't scare anybody even though they were heavily sought after. That's just one of their problems

Hell yes its bad coaching. Charlie Weis is a joke, Muschamp aint any better. Going to be a long haul for UF, not as long as for UT but they wont be a factor for a while.
Actually we have been down for awhile. However, I agree that we will climb as the Gators continue downward. Muschamp and Weis are a bad combination and when Urban takes the OSU job I expect him to take some UF position coach hold overs from the defense. I am curious about UF's fanbase and how they will react to this downward trend.

OL recruiting and WR recruiting has been miserable.

Plenty of 5* misses....Brantley, Thompson, Green....Debose was supposed to be the next Percy. Player development is on the coaching staff.

And as someone else said, we've got Meyer's spread recruits trying to run a pro-style offense.

I'm not writing Muschamp and his staff off yet. I think it'll take a while before they start producing with their system and players.

For a guy that made his living/reputation coaching defenses...absolutely. Florida's defense should be as good or better than anyone in the conference.

We suck because we have very little talent at the skill positions. PERIOD. Anyone who refuses to acknowledge this shouldn't even be discussing it.

This is a perfect example of why if you pay attention to star ratings when recruiting kids, you are an idiot. Star ratings DO NOT equal guaranteed wins or positive results. These kids on the offensive side of the ball were recruited for a speed first offense with the spread. Our 2 starting RB's weigh 175 and we are trying to run a power running offense. it won't work until you get the right backs (Mike Davis/Matt Jones) in there and bigger OL (Jess Dunkerman/DJ Humphries) to pave the road.

I think we will eventually be fine and get back to beinjg a respectable program and competitive. i told someone in another thread we have 64 kids on scholly, the lowest number in the SEC, or 2nd lowest. Nobody talks about that. it's as if they look at recruiting classes and make naive statements about "look at all that talent".

I'll take results and players that play hard over star ratings any day of the week and twice on Sundays.

The Gator defense is ranked in the top 15-20 in the country. It's on offense we are changing everything.

Durkin and Marotti are the only coaches from Meyer's staff...Muschamp should be jumping for joy if they leave.

Our defense played good enough to beat Auburn, UGA, South Carolina and FSU...but our offense gave them little support.

Not sure if it has been said, but I'm afraid all of the "Saban disciples," i.e. Muschamp & Dooley, are not as good as touted. It is just that Saban is that good.

You could easily argue that, but I'm not sure Dooley was ever "touted" as you suggest.

Muschamp was next in line at Texas, so based on results and reputation you could also argue he underachieved moreso than Dooley.

I'm just glad this abortion of a football season is over....until Ohio State beats us in the Gator Bowl.
