That Hart would not have the power that he has now.. Gruden wants to be able to make his own decisions regarding assistant coaches, scheduling (non-conference)and all "football" related decisions. Basically the same thing Saban has at Bama. Hart and Cheek are not going to allow this to happen. Sit back and watch......

Sounds like a big ole game of Dungeons n Dragons designed to create a scapegoat in case Gruden doesn't take the job.

Maybe so, however, my point is I am not sure that "outsiders" have the same passion and understand the importance of Tennessee football as does someone that is from within the program with respect to the impact on the University, the city of Knoxville and even the state of TN.

You don't think a guy that graduated from Alabama and a guy that was AD at FSU knows anything about passionate football fans and its important to many people?

It doesnt surprise me that the athletic director at a major program doesn't want to hire someone who wants to divest him of some of his power. If you were a business owner would you hire someone to manage your office if one of their demands was complete control of the business?

Also, the entire notion is based on rumor and speculation anyway.

OP wants an AD that was born at St. Mary's Medical, went to Knox County Schools, THEN graduated from UT. Wouldn't hurt if his/her parents were from Maryville or Farragut at the farthest.

Too much Survivor, Big Brother, As the World Turns or something for this crew. Everything is a conspiracy, and the AD is behind it.

On one level I shake my head, but on another level I understand it. As bad as things have been the past 5 years, it's easy to want to find somebody to blame.

Anyone ever stop and think that maybe the reason we dont have "Tennessee guys" in these positions in the first place is because Tennessee isnt turning out people who are the best at their respective positions?

Let's hire Will Muschamp! $100,000 buyout. Only making $2 million.

Offer him $4 million.

that would be great!

From a coaching standpoint, I think that's one of the biggest failures from the Fulmer era. The coaching tree just isn't there.

Laugh all you want , however, word right now is Gruden won't be hired because Hart will not give him complete control of the football program. Talked to someone today that knows Hart and said he is a control freak. When Gruden isn't hired, come back and laugh then if you want to.

Really ? Who said the 'word' ? Jimmy Hyams ?? LOL

Listen my friend 'bird is the word'

Its always something. Things can't just happen. Gruden can't just say no. It's gotta be a conspiracy and somebody has to get fired.
Ridiculous.

Saban was a proven winner in the SEC. Gruden is not. It would be stupid for Hart to give a guy like him complete control. Could turn out to be the worse idea ever!!! Give complete control over to a guy that has never coached in college??? Are you kidding me??? The guy doesn't know what he's doing in college and will need to go through recruiting 101. Heck there r people on here that know more about the ins and outs of CFB then Gruden and you want to give him complete control??? Then have the audacity to say that Hart is going to put the program back if he doesn't!?!? You sir are just ridic....

(and I'm the one that gets accused of being a troll that wants bring harm to UT for supporting Dooley...)
