Does the dismissal of Dorial Green-Beckham mean

The Vols owe Mizzou especially at home so there should be motivation. I suspect there will also be fan intensity. Last year their D collared the Vols. The year before, our own coach's decision's was paramount in that loss. How many times was a win yanked out of the jaws of success that day. I think a young, talented and motivated Volunteer team has a very good chance of winning next year's Mizzou home game. I'm already ready for that one.

Hey. Some of you guys can try to rationalize all you want, but the fact remains that every off season people start saying these things and every season most of them are wrong. I'm just being a realist.

I'm not expecting miracles , I don't foresee 11-1 or 10 -2 seasons but I am tired of settling for 5-7 and the fourth straight 5-7 season is just plain unacceptable for me . I see no reason why we can't go 7-5 or even 8-4 if we catch a break, and maybe even win a bowl game .

Hey man, I hope you're right and I'm wrong, believe me. I'm just saying that every year most of us say these things and every year we are disappointed.

Certain no but it does add 7 points to our probable margin of victory.

They have lost at least 7 starters on Defense, a few OL starters, best RB, QB (Mauk is good though) and all three starting WRs from last year.

We gonna slap that azzzzz!

Stupid question to ask this forum of nutcases. Last year's game was going to be an easy victory over Mizzou according to so many with their starting QB on the bench. And they killed us. Worst game of the year for us (or was it Auburn). That pounding was not the resukt of G-B alone either.

We still are very weak defensively. One of the worst in the league right now. Hard to say how the freshmen will improve the D but they will still be just freshmen.

I think it's safe to say that with or with out him, UT should handle this mizzou team. if CBJ can't beat this team then we've got some problems with the best staff in America. We have more talent at every position but qb. And by late fall ours could be better.

I am a Butch Jones supporter. But if he doesn't start winning this year against teams he should beat, like mizzou, then he won't be able to keep recruiting at the current level.

We will have played 10 full games by the time Mizzou visits Neyland . No drugs here , I just expect more than a 5-7, 6-6 season . At some point and time coaching has to start making a difference and that needs to be this year! .... besides excuses are for losers and Dooley

I'll sum it up with an oldie but goody..........Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me 5 consecutive seasons, shame on me.

So your expectations for the future of Vol football are set by the boundaries of the last 5 years?

Wouldn't, just based on situation, vanderbilt be the more appropriate example to use there?

And as long as he's a good enough salesman / keeps recruits excited, he'll likely be able to keep selling it to the recruits he currently is. It's if his seat starts heating up / fan unrest over results gets to the point that recruits start noticing that things usually change.

Vandy might be a better example but i don't expect Missouri to do much of anything this year.

If he goes 5-7 like a lot of people on this site believe(lol) then its going to be hard to keep getting top 5-10 recruiting classes by just being a "good enough salesman" recruits have said they want to see the results on the field, want to see some type of progress. fans will start to question him if he goes 5-7 and i believe even if he goes 6-6 we should start to at least question his staff and maybe his coaching abilities.

Mizzou

And I also think we beat OU in Norman. That's 9 wins.

Love the optimism, but I would say 1-2 between OM, Fla, and Mizzou would be par for the course. Winning 2 of those would be great. And although I think we have a shot in 2015 in Neyland, forget about @Okla this year.

If Worley wins the job and plays as good as his high point last year, or even better as should be expected, then I see no reason why we can't win in Norman. Also if one of the other qbs steps up and wins the job over Worley we will be in food shape.
