Dogs of VolNation and other pets that are inferior to Dogs

I have two pibbles today. The gray one is the Basenji/Pit mix I previously referred to.

Ever been hit with a whip? 😀

True. One of the pitties, while still a puppy, walked by the boxer and her tail made eye contact. Ever heard a dog scream? Our perfect girl did and she is no wimp! Her eye was bloody (inside, not out) for days. The pittie never knew she did anything, and the boxer still loved her.

Do you know why boxers drool?

Because otherwise they would be perfect:).

I had to have Mazzy's amputated at a year and a half old due to bleeding and infection where she was knocking the sheetrock.

Oh, and I'm not answering that...

Cayenne seems to know not to whip her tail against objects that aren't my legs.

I'm glad her previous owners didn't dock her tail or ears. Hopefully she doesn't have the same situation your poor pup did in the future.

Ouch.

Yeah, it was pretty pitiful. She's just such a happy dog that she couldn't control it. There were little blood splatters 18" up on our old walls. She would then lick the then-hairless end of her tail and get it infected. She healed up quickly, but the surgery wasn't cheap at that age. Still has her floppy ears, though!

She's an American Staffordshire Terrier according to her DNA test. 💯 too, not mixed with anything.

So while pits technically have thier own breed now, she's basically a pit as far as most people are concerned.

Hello

My wife and I are looking for a mini schnauzer, I want a giant schnauzer but she gets what she wants, she had one for 16 years and we put it down a few years ago. We are ready for another.

I would gladly recommend the breeder we got ours from. Let me know if you are interested.

My beagle, Field Marshal Von Stinky, has been responding well to the antibiotics. I hope like heck it works, as outside of pneumonia the next most likely is cancer which is far beyond my financial means to fight.

I'm going to give him his meds, let him run free with his adopted horses in the pasture next door with his setter sister killing woodchucks, and let him be a beagle regardless.

I used to get so mad when he'd run off...but seeing his collar light blink as he ran off into the dark at full cry really hit home. He was out being a real beagle, something 99% of beagles don't get to do.

Disclaimer : the woodchuck killing was entirely Kemper, he just stood there and yelled.

I want a boxer.

They are wonderful with kids too. I could tell stories about kids, elderly, protection, and overall awesomeness.

They are high energy (if that matters), shed (well who doesn't except poodles and Mexican hairless), and drool. As far as exercise they can be trained to walk a treadmill and swim, actually need some help learning to swim because they are so large in the chest. Shedding (brush and vacuum :)), but the drool....just keep a rag handy:p.

They are so worth it. The last picture is she in her wheelchair (UT HABIT trained) making her rounds at the nursing home. The staff called her "a true inspiration" to the residents).

This thread is awesome. I need to venture over here more often. VN has some great dogs!

This is my oldest. This is my Lulu. She is a German Shepard and Husky mix. As others have stated, sheds an unreal amount. She's (almost) 11 now.

I was working at a store when she was about 9 weeks old or so. Guy comes in looking for someone to take her. Says she going to the pound if someone doesn't. I didn't even consider it at first (wasn't a dog person at the time). He asked another guy there if he'd take her. That guy tells me I should. Living by myself at the time. He asked if I'd at least come look at her. I said sure. Soon as I held her I knew I was taking her home. She's been a great dog.

This is my other dog. This is Buddy. We just got him from the pound yesterday. My 5 year old loves him. He's about a year old, at least that's what they guess. He's a real sweet tempered dog.
