Really? Yet to see the NCAA train roll in here to investigate during Martin's tenure.
Oh yea, forgot, you're the one that started this top 5 dumb thread of all time.

To put it in perspective Cuonzo Martin was still playing at Purdue when Pearl got the job at Southern Indiana (which he got in 1992).. Cuonzo Martin isn't bad knowing his small amount of coaching experience prior to Tennessee.
I totally agree. He shouldn't have been hired here, he wasn't ready for the total competition that comes with a high major job. He's done a decent job and I personally believe he can improve with the right assistants at hand. Do I think he's a better coach than most of the other SEC coaches? Absolutely.I knew what you were getting at, but you further bring up the point that he wasnt ready for this job. Will he be a great coach down the road? Maybe, but Tennessee fans do not want a learn on the job coach.

I would hope you wouldnt see the ncaa roll in. Whats worse than cheating and winning? Cheating and losing. Martin is man of integrity and seems to be a great guy. Unfortunately he isnt a very good coach. I dont think Pearl ia the only hire, other people can win here. I do think Pearl ia the best bet to win here. You have to ask youraelf if the risk is worth the reward.
Pearl's worst year has been better than Martin has ever done
It's why I think Hart will retain him it he makes the dance.
Martin has improved from year 1 to year 2, and if he makes the dance this year, then he's also improved from year 2 to year 3. Being a young, inexperienced coach you know you're going to take your lumps, but what you wanna see is improvement and that would be the very definition.
Now we can discuss all day that Tennessee isn't the place to learn, but the fact is that's who was hired. Given our financial situation and everything else, I think Hart will give Martin the benefit of the doubt.
Jmo
I agree and if he makes the dance Im not so sure he shouldnt be hired back. It is improvement even though I think the team had bigger goals of getting a better seed. However, I dont believe we can hire somebody better than Martin unless its Pearl at a discount. If we are not going to hire Pearl I would rather give Martin a shot to improve than hire another young coach. Ut fans need to face it we are not backing up the truck to hire a new bball coach.
Not if Martin makes the tourney. This year we weren't ranked preseason. If we win out we will be 20-11 with a NCAA bid. Pearl had a year ranked #14 preseason finished 19-12 first round loss. He had another year #23 preseason finished 17-13 30 point first round loss. This year starting not being ranked and finish with more wins and a tougher SOS would clearly be better than both.
You could argue Martin's first year was better also since we were picked 11 of 12 due to the short roster Pearl left. We finished second in the SEC with 18 wins. Those two Pearl teams under performed.
