Don't be shocked if Vols flip w/ Texas

Absolutely zero chance texas goes from #2 to #9. I think they are a lock for #5. Losing in overtime doesn't warrant that huge of a drop. It's Happy Valley or the Shoe. Today sealed our hosting chance

Texas did not look very impressive at all and it had nothing to do with Georgia as they didn't look impressive either. Both teams were absolute busts offensively which is why Tennessee lost traction in the middle of the year even when winning.

Notre Dame will be 5. There is also Penn State who could be 5 unless they decide to drop them below Ohio State, which is where they probably belong since they lost to both Oregon and OSU. They could also move OSU up.

It’s really about Texas dropping from 2 to 7 and then getting pushed down to 9 by the 2 auto bids.

Tennessee sits at 7 right now but gets pushed lower with auto bids.

Yes it is a 5 place drop in the rankings not 7. PSU would be a 4 place drop.

The question is whether they will just rearrange the top 5 teams or include OSU and TN in the rearrangement.

Just my thoughts. Conference teams hosting each other in the first round is a little silly but I understand teams are ranked to strength subjectively.

I also think they are undervaluing the SEC because teams beat up on each other and overvaluing the Big Ten because there are 4 good teams at the top and everybody else. That means their records are good.

This will come down to an SEC call, IMO. Texas lost by 15 to UGA and again by 3 against a backup QB for 1/2 of the game. Only beat Vandy by 3. Committee can justify it if they/the SEC choose to. Along with Tennessee arguably having a "prettier" loss to UGA during regular season, I think the decision will come down to matchups and venues. Vols are not out of the running; don't be shocked if we are hosting.
You're in the wrong forum man!! You are of course exactly right but the miserable mouthbreathers don't know what to do w a good season and great team. They want to be miserable and bitch so unfortunately you're falling on mostly deaf ears.

Could you honestly see the committee drop texas from 2 to 7 losing in OT in the SECCG? I just can't. I think they deserve it. It was the worst called game I've ever seen Sark have. This dude let Georgia off the ropes and stopped being aggressive. Texas should have routed that Georgia team last night. Seems like Beck only looks super human when he plays Tennessee

Why should Texas be ranked ahead of us. They have zero good wins and lost badly to the mutts at home and on a neutral field. We lost to the mutts at their field and Arkansas on the road. It’s corruption at its finest if Texas is higher than us

We’ve had to earn every spot. We even fell in the rankings after beating Florida. Penn State, Texas, and Ohio State get the benefit of being overranked all season and therefore won’t end up ranked where they should be
Bingo. It's the same reason teams like Oklahoma, Ohio State, and Oregon have gotten blown TF out by SEC teams in the playoffs. No matter how much they try to write the narrative and make it fair, the championship will come through the SEC. These other teams will get exposed

That's NOT what he said
Yes, it’s what he said. Teams that were not playing in conference championships (that included UT, OSU, Indiana, ND, and Bama) could not move up and could only potentially move down. Teams competing in a conference championship game could improve their positions by winning.

So how did it all shake out? Bama moved back 1 spot, dropping out of the playoffs and making room for SMU. OSU and UT stayed in their same playoff spots, #8 & #9, respectively (not to be confused with last week’s rankings of #6 & #7, respectively). ND dropped 1 spot to #7.

So not only did the chair state it, but he held true to his statement.

One correction. Bama moved back one spot making room for Clemson (but also SMU). This is important because the chair also stated that teams would not be punished for playing in a conference championships. Again, the Committee Chair stayed true to his word.

But hey, we’re all Vol Family here, right? I love my Vol family and pumped about the opportunity to go kick the Buckeyes arses in in Columbus in a couple of weeks! GBO!

Texas is miles better than Tennessee, there is no reason for the two to flip.
