Don't you feel dirty after all the bad things you said about Dooley?

He's finished.

What will his lasting memories be of Tennessee?

Maybe more importantly - what will the lasting memories be for his children and family?

I hope they didn't read all the hate and that somehow they leave with good memories of the great state of Tennessee.

It's a dog eat dog world. You know what comes with this profession when you get involved.

$5,000,000.00 buys a lot of therapy.

Their daddy knew how it ends for 98% of the people who go into that profession. It pays great(that's why so many coaches kids get into it) but its a results business and results are wins, nothing else.

I've never been overly negative about the guy. He's the one that created the VFL program, he's done a good job recruiting, and he brought tradition back to the program. He embraced UT more than some people that post on here ever will.

Let's move on and do it with class.

I honestly don't feel bad at all. It's not like I crapped in my hands and threw it at him and his family. I'm just critical of his piss poor (lack of) coaching, which goes hand in hand with being the suckiest coach in D-1 football.

Easy come, easy go. Was way over his head and not competent to compete in the SEC when he entered. He was hired because of Vince Dooley. He is a good man and I wish he and his family the best in the future. I supported him until the bitter end. I wished he could have won and stayed here at Tennessee for many years. Got to move on now.

The problem lies with people who can't separate criticism of performance and personal attacks.

Little people with feeble minds attack people personally for professional shortcomings.

Those folks should turn in their fan cards. Same stock as tree poisoners and the like.

This is my first post ever on this or any other message board. This is not a day to celebrate. It is a sad day because someone who gave his all for the university and football program was let go. The move needed to happen, but I take no joy in sending him away. I wanted coach Dooley to succeed and tried to give him the benefit of the doubt, for too long I suppose. He loved the university and his team. I know he gets $5 million to soothe his pain, but it was difficult to watch his post game presser. It seemed his heart was broken.

I hate it when people call him "Fooley" or "Doolittle" or "Doleave." He held an important position and did his best. Though he failed he does not deserve to be derided. No family of a coach of the Volunteers should have to be embarrassed about their father or husband.

I hope the fanbase considers Coach Dooley a Vol for Life, and I would like to think he would want to be a Vol for Life. I hope the next coach can build on what Dooley started. It was a difficult undertaking at a tough time. Let's hope Hart makes the right decision in choosing the next coach.....Go Vols

I joined this forum around the time the FF (FIRE FULMER) bullets were being shot everywhere. All I can say is, you got what you deserved!
KIFFIN, the most dis-loyal coach in UT history, then, DOOLEY, the worst coach (record-wise) in UT history. SURE, He's "NICE" but "NICE" does not win games!
MAYBE, THIS TIME, UT WILL TAKE IT'S TIME AND FIND THE RIGHT FIT FOR THE LONG TERM. ALABAMA found theirs, VANDY FINALLY found theirs! UT HAS BEEN THROUGH HELL THE LAST 4 YEARS.
We all knew this was coming! I only wonder what the outcome would have been if he had been fired after the Missouri game!

Why on earth should I care what Derek Dooley's lasting memories of Tennessee are? He's the one who got paid millions to entertain us. What lasting memories did he create? Losing the nation's longest winning streak to a WR running the veer? Getting blown out by Vanderbilt?
