Don't you get sick and tired of the no respect

I said that tongue-in-cheek. They are a quality opponent....though I still have a hard time seeing them and Arky in the SEC. I did not approve.

I figured you did, I was trying to play along. More proof there should be a sarcasm font, so we'd all understand each other. :)

Respect has to be earned when we have played as poorly as we have the last 6-8 years. We had, we lost it. We will earn it back again. This year could and I believe will be the start. The following years will find us in the cat-bird seat looking around ar all those inferior programs who kicked us around while we were down. IT IS COMING.

More sick and tired of respect threads..............go cry in a corner

This. Why exactly should we be respected? Because of what we were doing twenty years ago? Or fifty or sixty?

We don't have respect because we don't deserve it. Tennessee football has been awful. I seriously don't get why people get bent out of shape about this. If we were winning 9 and 10 games a year and weren't getting respect, that would be something to complain about. A team that hasn't lost fewer than 6 games in seven years and has lost 7 in all but one of those years doesn't exactly inspire fear or respect.

This year we'll start earning a little respect back.

Next year we'll earn even more respect back.

The year after that only a moron will not respect our Vols.

Always remember though, there's lots of morons in this world.

Relax folks, they're just predictions. It doesn't mean anyone is disrespecting anyone. Talking heads in the media are always gonna put someone on upset alert, and fans will always be confident in their team, especially in week one....yes, even USU's.

I get more sick and tired of our delusional fans thinking we should get a lot of positive press when we are coming off SIX STRAIGHT mediocre to worse seasons (five of which were losing seasons).

We don't deserve any respect right now.

First of all, I agree with you. The reasoning behind saying what I said is that the "no respect attitude" is coming from opposing teams fans. And If you are there on Sunday ask any Ute (whatever the hell that is) fan why they think they can win. They will have two responses, chuckie keeton, and we won 9 games last year or whatever it was and you won 5. It is a complete BS comparison, but that will be what they say I guarantee it.

I am assuming that you are referring "idoits" as other teams fans using the win/loss argument to validate why they think their team can win, and not calling me an idoit sir.

Why would we ask a Ute when we are playing the Aggies? What is an idoit by the way? Someone who can't spell idiot?

This!

I don't think a lot of posters understand how TV talk shows work. They MUST have opposing views. If all the panelist agreed on everything, where's the show? There isn't one.

They look at a game, say UT vs. USU. A couple of guys will pick UT and a couple will pick USU. And guess what, none of them really care about the game at all. It's just a prediction, but it works on UT fans....every single time.

Hey OP, would you respect a 5-7 team that's lost its last 2 to Vanderbilt?

What about that same team that beat the #11 ranked team in the country? We should be respected against USU. if they played our schedule last year they would have been lucky to win 5 games. Also when was the last time USU beat the #11 ranked team?

What about it? UT can't hang their hat on that 1 game forever. It was in the middle of October last year. There were 3 huge beatdowns that followed that win.

Who, specifically, is handing out this "disrespect?"

There have been multiple articles that I have read that keeps harping on Keeton and USU almost beating AU and almost beating USC. So they hang on those performances and use them to predict USU will beat us. Why is it that USU can hang their hat on their "almost wins" yet we cannot hang our hat on an actual huge win against a highly ranked team? It's not huge disrespect but there is a tone in some articles that I have read that point to UT being overlooked like a team that shouldn't be worried about at all.

UT has a win over a very good, highly ranked team last year. USU did not.

As I watch and relish SC's and Vandys return to their former selves on SEC Network this morning it's driving me nuts that when they flash the matchup and time up on the bottom of the screen of our game all it says is " UT only school to not return a starter on either the OL or DL".

I have a feeling they will have some stats on a couple WRs to use next week!

Last 5:

5-7
7-6
6-7
5-7
5-7

That ring a bell?

My point exactly. Let's start earning some respect on the field, and it will follow in the press. Our downturn is not some blip on the radar at this point. We have been sucking for a long time.

Why should Tennessee be respected? I love this University but no one is going to respect this football program until it wins games.
