Dooley fired. Announcement tomorrow. (merged)

Signs pointing to announcement by UT by 2 p.m. EST Sunday that Dooley is out. Doubt Hart wants to face questions in press conference.

Hart actually thought Dooley could save the season and didn't have a plan b?

As in Hart hasn't been interviewing coaches? I know if I was the AD I would have somebody ready to step in by now and it would make a way easier transition.

This team has obviously quit. Hart should of done this weeks ago and we might have had a chance at a bowl game.

Really unhappy with Hart's performance right now.

I think he was gonna keep Dooley if he won a bowl game, but I also think if Gruden was truly interested he would have fired Dooley already because it would save recruits and also get us more intrest from others. I'm not going to be at all surprised when he names Kirby Smart the coach. I just have a feeling. I sickening feeling

Really? Hart has been having third party contacts with other coaches since the MSU game. Don't be dumb.

Folks you can't bring in a new coach mid season so it doesn't really matter when this is announced. There was no way to salvage this season. It had to play out....unfortunately.

If I'm Hart, I give Dooley an ultimatum: Either he gives up a significant portion of his buyout, or I keep him on as a janitor or something (clean the players uniforms, keep the footballs inflated, whatever). That way we're only paying him his salary for a couple more years, and not some exorbitant buyout. If he chooses to leave, then we're released from the buyout. I think Hart holds the cards here. And you know this how? I'm no expert but I thought contact with coaches' agents was the first step. I can only hope that the next coach is currently coaching and then preparing for a bowl game. VFL

Well it's still kind of early lot of coaches are still at work so in about a month or so we should start seeing something develop. At least we can get a jump on things. Not a Arkansas jump on things but we have a whole month to a month and a half to scout and analyse a coaches ability. Lets be patient and take our time and not make a quick hire to fill the spot like last time. If we rush this we will be here again in 2015

No.

Hart unlike Mike Hamilton is controlling the story. By waiting until everyone wants Dooley fired, there are no naysayers.

This would not be the case had Dooley been fired after SC or Mizzou.

His salary is guaranteed. Even if he worked as a Janitor or whatever he is paid the same. It would cost more to keep him on than buy him out. I think he still has 3 more years left on his deal after this year.

Not sure what Knoxville media you're referring to - I live here & they have been so far behind on this it's not even funny

Knoxville media would rather stay behind a story like this than get in front of it, if they, in the least, fear they will offend the powers at UT.
