Dooley has been fired (unconfirmed)

I'm sick of the garbage that spews from Dooleys mouth.Every week it's a new excuse. He needs to go back to carrying Sabans clip board.Maybe then he will learn something.

Yep. Blocking and tackling. Or the lack of blocking and tackling. Not too much different from game to game.

If tackling were just a UT issue then we could find blame on our staff only. But it is a national epidemic. HS kids aren't getting taught how to well enough and now the college coaches are having to waste thier time on it. It's like having to teach a freshman in college long division.

The game is changing. The Os are faster and spread out. Helped the Aggies win yesterday and why I think OL Monty kiff is having issues out in LA. Just hasn't been able to figure out how to stop it yet. No one has not even the Saban. Less players available that can too, so recruiting is getting tougher.

Just IMO that's all...

I hope we announce it soon, but with the rumors I just have a feeling Hart is gonna wait. Its rumored he's really high on Kirby Smart, so by waiting to announce and letting the other teams snatch up the good coaches it gives him the excuse he needs to hire Smart. If we end up with Smart I don't know if I'll be able to watch this team anymore. I mean I know I will but it won't be much better than what were watching this year.
I just hope I'm wrong about this, I hope I'm REALLY REALLY wrong.

The best thing that fans can do is not talk about firing Dooley. IMO he has fired himself and we need to let him finish the season just like nothing has happened. Then after the Kentucky game we need to bring in the new coach effective immediately so he will at least hit the ground running and have a chance to save our recruiting class and the players already on the roster.

While I am open to firing him now, I would wait until after Vandy to limit some of the distractions this week. And then I'd announce next Sunday that his last game is UK. The AD's office should have a plan in place by then (if not already) and then officially announce his replacement the Monday after UK. That would give us more likelihood of getting to a bowl and make it seem like the AD's office has some semblance of organization and direction.

I agree. I've watched a number of high school games this year. I see a lot of missed blocks and tackles. Too many "arm tackles." When you see a team's players making aggressive blocks and "wrap-up" tackles, you see a team that usually wins.

I think this is the plan. I hope that Hart has the replacement already and that it is not Smart. With Gruden's interest apparently flagging, we need Chris Peterson or Gary Patterson to be announced as the new coach ASAP.

Wrong. Any player that transfer's will have to sit out a year.

Exactly this. We would be firing a coach not getting ncaa probation. Some UT fans are just plain stupid about how things work. Don't post on things you know nothing about. Okay, that was harsh. Just frustrated after being there and watching that clock run out. Go Vols and thanks for being a Vols fan regardless.

Losing to Missouri didn't cost Dools his job - it was the way he did it.

With 40+ seconds to go in the game on Missouri's 40 and you let the clock run out with 2 times outs and 2 first round draft picks at wideout and a guy who can sling it 75 yards in the air...? Are you kidding me? That like escapade cost him his job.

Check my record. I've never posted anything against Dooley. But that sealed it for me. Stick a fork in me - I'm done with UT until he's gone.

Agree 100%, 74. I could not believe my eyes when he made that decision. I, too, have never made a negative post about DD, but, it brought back the painful memory of Bill Battle's decision of the fake punt on 4th down against Georgia that cost the Vols that game and sealed his fate. Please don't abandon our beloved Vols over this guy, my friend. DD is gone and this, too, will pass. I have faith in Dave Hart and co. to make the correct hire. This man is connected and this isn't his first rodeo, by a long shot. Please, stay calm and faithful. GO VOLS!!!

Some of you are insulting the intelligence of the recruits if you think firing Dooley now would make any kind of difference.

If you fire him now, you risk shaking up the team further. There is really nothing to gain. It's too close to the end of the season. They will let Dooley resign, but he will do it on Hart's terms. This softens the blow on both sides.

I for one am not dancing on the grave; whether you have had it with Dooley or not, this situations just sucks

SEC teams looking for new coaches soon:

Arkansas
Auburn
Tennessee
Kentucky

UT needs to get proactive and make a move soon to get the first pick among the top coaches around the country.

This is not how it works. Hart has been talking to folks for a while now. It is not like some great coach is going to say "damn I wouldn't have taken the Kentucky offer had I know Dooley was going to get fired".

The reason it will not be announced until after the season is so that we can try and retain the few good recruits we have and, probably because whoever they have to replace him cannot be announced till after the season due to prior contract reasons. Lets please stop calling for dooley's head because he has already chopped it off himself. Wait for the end of the season and your wish will come true.
We have nothing to lose by announcing it and only will gain possible recruits. Face it we rank 12 th in SEC because of Dooley. Announcing his departure and a new coach will only create some much needed excitement on the hill.

Hire Sumlin from Texas A&M--pay him whatever he wants--he can win big at UT.

He's really showing his coaching skills his first year, for sure, especially, last night in Tuscaloosa. My 1st pick is Gary Patterson, whom I wanted to replace Kiffin. Oh well, it will be most interesting to see this unfold.

Yes, firing him now could upset the delicate balance on this team and could squash our hopes at being SEC East champs. Also it could possible cause a blemish in our now perfect 0-6 record. Perhaps it could even cause our 5 star recruits to change maybe even drop us below Vandy in recruiting. Oh wait, we are already there thanks to Dooley. So what is the down side for firing him now ? I am missing it.

Who watched the Ole Miss-Vandy game? See how Franklin is a player's coach. He was on the sidelines actually coaching those kids one-on-one. And they won that game at the last minute. Franklin is a very good coach. I don't care what anyone on VN says. However, I doubt he would leave Vandy for UT.

Agree. Vandy is going to finish 8-4, which is unheard of for them.

Exactly! All this talk about the UT offense, but just how complicated is it to have Bray throw it to one of two NFL first rounders? The guy is a moron.

UT is 4-6 and 0-6 in the SEC, and Vols fans wouldn't want Franklin as their coach?

Vandy is 6-4 and 4-3 in the SEC with considerably less talent than anybody in the conference.

He's also currently outrecruiting UT; so it's not hard to imagine what he could do with a position at a major program with the facilities and resources of a school like UT.

Dude can coach; his team isn't doing anything but OVERachieving every single week. When was the last time Vandy ranked in the middle of the SEC?

They're currently 7th of 14, ahead of MSU, Mizzou, UT, UK, OM, UAr, and AU. At UT you could reasonably expect him to be right in the thick of things. I would think you guys would kill to get him on campus.

The title of this thread should be changed to...

Dooley gone? [Entire fan base specualtion]

I don't think Clay Travis scooped anyone on this one.
