Dooley has been fired (unconfirmed)

There is no reason a defense in the SEC should be that bad. No reason whatsoever. This group makes the same mistakes over and over and over again. That secondary is so poor there are no words to describe it. It doesn't even appear to be FBS level. They don't correct anything and have gotten worse as the season has gone on.

If Dooley is gone, I'm sure the house is cleaned as far as a coaching staff.

The SEC is the power house football conference in the country, and the teams we faced this year, have had no shortage of offensive talent....expecting abunch of kids, to completely grasp the defensive schemes of a new DC in one offseason, is like expecting a bunch of rookies to grasp Dick Lebeau's defense from the time they are drafted, to the first pre-season snap...its unrealistic...for any program. This Defense has no shortage of good, young up and coming players...there are many bright spots on the D, and a lot of guys that have improved from day 1...this type of rhetoric is just another case of UT fans having expectations that are irrational and lacking in common sense.

Cool - you're a few years older than I expected.

The most troubling things I've heard are specifically about how Dooley has treated the university employees and support staff - including the cleaning crews.

Seems to me you need to have accomplished something significant before you act like an egomaniac.

Just seems like he is emulating Saban with zero results.

Steady decline in defense since NC State game IMO.

i havent heard the specific things you are talking about, and wont speak to them...a guy that is a lawyer, coached under saban, was the HC and AD, and the HC at a university that has one of the largest athletic programs in the country seems like an accomplishment though...not the ones fans want...but an accomplishment none the less...no excuse for the things you are speaking of if true...but IMHO...the man has done quite a lot with his life so far

Everything I've heard is that it is exactly Dooley's way or the highway, no compromise. Failing this leads to lots of angry *****ing from our venerable headman.

Dont misunderstand my stance on this...while i think DD is a great talent, i think his inexperience has finally cost him his job....and i dont know that its a mistake. The defense hasnt played as well as we need it to, and even when he hired Sunseri, it was widely stated that while it may have been the right hire for the program, it probably wasnt for DD's job security, because it was going to take time to implement it, and get the right guys in to have is work. There have been plenty of mistakes...but that happens with young players, no matter what program you are in...our D-line and even our linebackers have been improving from day one....the secondary has been lacking...not saying they played as well as the could have...just saying the expectations of many, were never possible to begin with in year one of the Sunseri era

Not to keep repeating...but after our last failed hire...we knew we were getting a guy who's stance was, its my way or the highway...its what we needed. He was never going to pander to guys...he was never gonna put up with bs from rogers, or any of the other top guys he booted from the program after giving them chances to change...three years in a row. We needed a guy like that...for our program, and because he was what we needed to show the NCAA, we were serious about cleaning up our program. We didnt need another Kiffin, who wanted to be everyones bff...we needed a guy who wasnt gonna put up with **** from ego driven college football players who thought they were gods

You think DD is a great coaching talent? What is that based on? Faith?

Even die hard Dooley defenders have to admit that Dooley did not get this job based on a past body of work. He got it because:

1 - He coached under Saban
2 - His last name
3 - Couldn't break the bank after Fulmer buyout

A guy that relatively regularly cusses people out over small things and forces everyone (see: support staff) to work on his time all time is never what anyone needs. I don't know what kind of leadership education you may have had, but it sucks balls. The man's a douchebag.

You cant...because i said a great talent...never said a great coaching talent. And your list as to why he got the job is just as wrong as your addition of the word coaching. The first item on the list...his coaching under saban...yea, that was one...the next two...wrong and wrong. UT has a top 5 athletic department...its not because we are broke...we have plenty of boosters and donors who will open a checkbook when needed...his last name would have played well in GA...but in knoxville, not much was made about it...his work as an AD, and HC at the same time, his ability to run a program that didnt put up with guys who thought they were above the rules, and outside the arm of the law...and his ability to transition a program from a culture of instability, to stability are reasons he got the job....the breaking the bank stuff is a load of bs, and proves you know as little about UT's finacial backing as you do football

What "talent" are you referring to, if you're not talking about coaching?

what talent? Lets go through his resume...he's a lawyer, hes a former assistant coach, head coach, and AD...you think he got there because he threaten to sue someone if they didnt give him the job? Gimme a break man

He's a great "talent"...you're not talking about coaching...so...what exactly are you talking about? His underwater basket weaving abilities?

"we have plenty of boosters and donors who will open a checkbook when needed"

Why didn't that happen after Kiffin's departure?

We're hiring football coaches at Tennessee based on their litigation abilities now? Should we have nabbed Johnnie Cochran when he was available?

He's a head coach...with a 17-20 record at Louisiana Tech and a 15-20 record at Tennessee. Again, he was not hired at Tennessee because of a past body of work, because none exists. He was hired for other reasons.

Aight...im done aruging his merits....im not going to dismiss anyones reasoning, or what they have heard...but people that call him a douche bag, or a dick...you really have no idea if what you are saying is true...and i have no respect for you, because you can get on an internet site, and say dispearaging things about a man you have no intimate knowledge of....you are all the same people who were singing his praises during the pre-season, and when he was getting the 9th and 13th best recruiting classes in the country...at the very least, im sure his wife and kids would disagree with your assesments of his character.

Why didn't that happen after Kiffin's departure?

NSD was a couple weeks away -- a main reason for the vile hate on Kiffin - Muschamp was offered a huge amount and turned it down then panic set in

I haven't said anything disparaging about the man personally or his character. I have only stated facts about his coaching record, then offered an opinion based upon my interpretation of it.

They tried after Kiffins departure...if you have any memory what so ever, you would remember that every other name turned us down, because of the crap kiffin pulled, and the NCAA investigation into our football and basketball programs. Again, i never said hire anyone because of their underwater basket weaving abilities...althought he should add that to his resume if he can really do that! Nor did i say he was hired because of his skills as a lawyer...you asked what talents i was refering to...and his makeup as whole, is why he was hired...his ability to handle all of the things that were going on when we brought him in...those are the reasons he was hired...and money had nothing to do with it.

He got the job because he was about the 5th or 6th choice and actually said "yes", and Hamilton was desperate. There's no way anyone was overly impressed with his 17-20 record at LT. His last name and being a part of the "Saban Tree" sure as heck didn't hurt him either.

David Climer has written a piece that calls for UT to replace D Dooley. He lists a few of the thousands of mistakes Dooley has made in his tenure. There are so many to choose from- each person can cherry pick which stupid, bizarre thing to make the centerpiece of the argument. I agree with his thought that it is best to fire him now, but let him coach the last 2 games. This will give UT time to make a reasoned , logical decision as to the replacement. Very unHamilton like and that is a good thing. No more $5 million buyouts for any coach, it is bad business.

UTE doesn't seem to get that.

Speaking of the choices, who were all the ones that said "no" again? Muschamp, Sumlin, Patterson, who else...

I understand your opinion, but I totally disagree.

Dropping to the bottom of the NCAA in total defense is inexcusable regardless of personnel issues.
