Dooley has done the heavy lifting

He didn't "run it into the ground" btw. It was already there. He didn't fix it... but he was not the one who broke it.

He wasn't the one who allowed Tennessee to descend to the point where they were the worst team in the entire SEC?

Interesting. Was that Fulmer or Kiffin?

Despite the ridiculous length of oregonvol's post, it's pretty spot-on. I find it interesting that sjt didn't respond to the point about depth, since that disputes pretty much his one and only argument that Dooley did something right.

Couldn't anyone have added that depth? That's what I've been saying this entire time. Sjt's response will be "we don't know for 100% sure, and therefore we should be impressed by Dooley." Personally, I think that's bulls**t.

The only heavy lifting Dooley ever did in Knoxville involved the boxes he loaded into the moving van on the way outta town....

Adding depth when u are deep in the hole roster wise from day 1 isn't as easy as u want to think it is. Especially in a highly regulated industry like cfb. You can't just go out hirer and firer at will anytime u want. Beef...I mean vka...ur personal hatred for Dooley would blame him for losing out on Santos and Peters. Ur personal hatred for the guy, cause he didnt kiss ur ring at a meet and greet, doesn't allow u to comprehend the factors why they switched but think it was b/c they were "jumping ship" before even getting on it.

It baffles me to see all the people on here that think they have a clue of what they are talking about but continue to harp solely on Xs and Os issues. When Dooley walked in it was way more than just that. The program and AD was in shambles. He was the right guy for the job at the moment cause he could fix the back-office issues. Cause Hammy had stepped in it big time. His "w/l" record on the field didnt matter as much as yall want to think it did. He was the guy that came in the day after the house burnt down, dealt with the arson investigators, insurance companies, built the house back up, and now CBJ is left with decorating and choosing the final fixtures, landscaping etc...the "Xs and Os.".

The level of success y'all expected from Dooley, after taking over a program in the dumpsters, is what y'all need to expect from CBJ. Cause he has a full roster (good or bad depth but full roster), no NCAA investigators on campus, an AD that's not on his way out, a finished world class athletic facility, very little player drama, etc etc etc etc.

Good analogy and on the money.

Fulmer mostly. Again, I have YET to claim that Dooley could coach. In fact, I have repeatedly said he couldn't. Is he a bottom of the SEC level coach on the field? Yep. He proved that by what he did when he finally had a roster that should have competed.

But again, he didn't create the situation he inherited or the implications of Fulmer's failures on 09-11 results. He was wholly responsible for last year. I would say he is responsible for the roster deficiencies that Jones will deal with in '13 and '14. They aren't as significant as they were in '10... but that does not mean they are not significant.

. It's just I look at the whole, run it through my own experiences (personal and professional), and that's where my opinions come from.
That's probably a flaw you and I share. We assume some of these guys have any kind of real world experience that allows them to relate to the management aspects of these situations.

I have taken on big tasks... and failed. I have taken on big tasks and succeeded greatly. I have hired people and fired people... and dealt with them in every managment sense in between.

Some of these guys seem to have no perspective whatsoever. I can just about guarantee that if they experienced something similar in their job as Dooley experienced at UT... they'd be whining to the world about how unfair it was that they were given such an impossible job then fired.

Like sjt and I have a major disagreement but we understand each others POV and truly respectfully agree to disagree. No insults no bullying tactics etc. Just certain experiences, even beliefs, don't allow us to agree. I do see where he is coming from though and understand his pov, and it's not bad. Just I for whatever reason see it different. This is the way proper adult conversation should be, but I've come to realize that many on here, and boards as a whole, just aren't capable of having a proper convo./rant GO VOLS!!!!

I have answered it numerous times to the extent that it is true. I have not claimed that this team is deep everywhere. In fact, I have specifically said that it isn't. Why do you continue to lie?

Where have I said we should be impressed with Dooley. Had the people who hired him had your hindsight crystal ball then I suspect they would have hired someone else. But we DON'T know what anyone else would have done. All we DO know is that the roster is better right now than it was 3 years ago.

You know... Oregonvol is at least smart enough to construct a decent strawman... you aren't. I plainly have not said half of what you say that I have when you try to argue... and it is obvious to everyone who reads it how ridiculous you are being.
