Dooley vs Muschamp

Dooley has done a far better job. Because everyone said it would take 4 or 5 years to get Tennessee back to where they used to be because of the lack of talent and no one expected to many wins.Muschump inherited a team full of top 100 players alot of 5* and alot of 4*.and they were expected to compete for SEC east.

This, that's why I think muschamp's seat should be hotter than dooley's

I wouldn't mind Muschamp as a DC. I would not want him as the HC.

Dooley, I don't know what he's good at really.

I can agree Muschamp is an acceptable DC. Dooley I really don't know because he's never been an OC or DC. The only work we can look at is as HC and thus far he's failed miserably.

He can't be among anybody that matters.

Not at the beginning of the 2nd year. But when he finishes off his 2nd year with not only a back to back losing season but loses to KY then his seat goes from warm to scorching in an instant.

I do not see Dooley as failing miserably.

The KY like was terrible.
Look.at the man had to work with when he arrived at TN.
I like the direction he has the program moving in.

Didn't La. Tech give both LSU and Oklahoma a scare while CDD was there? I believe they were leading at the half of the Oklahoma game if I remember correctly. He must have recruited some pretty good talent to that small school to play that well. I have no doubt that Kiffin, as bad as I hate to say it, would probably have won a couple more games than CDD,but would it have been worth it for the NCAA violations that would have most likely come later? I think Dooley will do well at TN as long as he is given a chance and don't think he should be on the hot seat until at leasdt after the 2013 season. Who would replace him?

As for the questions at the beginning of the thread:

1) Muschamp should be more on the hotseat, because he didn't start in as much of a hole as CDD.
2) Dooley has done more with his team than Muschamp has considering where they both started.

People can debate the what-if's of Dooley being on the hot seat or not. I like the man, think he has great character, and can recruit pretty well. One thing I definitely hope is that Muschump isn't on the hotseat. I hope UF keeps him a very long time.

This is ridiculous. How can you label a coach on the proverbial "hot" seat when he inherited a crapshoot. The players which were left over after Kiffin bolted would not have been able to beat a 1-A team in the TSSAA. The fact of the matter should be that it takes a few years to re-stock the cupboard, hell, reinvent the wheel actually. This talk of Dooley being gone is absurd. He will win. This board consist of members who have little faith. I for one am stoked about our Defense in 2012.

Reality is a concept not well understood on VN

How is being ranked in the top 25 all of 2006 and the majority of 2007 not nationally relevant? Also with that logic of saying you dont care that we won the East in 2007.... then you probably don't care bout the SEC championship that we won in 97 just because we lost to UF...or how bout let's just forget about 2001 also since we lost to UGA during the season. Oh yeah 2004 when we got smacked around by Auburn twice let's just go ahead and wipe that one off the board also. Yeah we got whooped by UF and UA during the 2007 season but we also took care of business when we had too, which included beating a good UGA team and a good SC team. Hell we only lost to the eventual national champions by a TD. Then beat WISC in the outback bowl. It's rediculous how you want to just sweep that whole season under the rug because of those two losses.
2007 was the biggest smoke and mirrors season I've ever seen. The Vols could have just as easily been 5-7 instead of backing their way into the SECCG

You think Joker Phillips inherited a goldmine at KY:clapping:

No, however no school has gone through the transgressions that Tennessee has in the last few years.

I believe that this new staff will be better than what Dooley first started with. I think it sucks TN lost Lance Thompson, but gained Sal Sunseri, who I believe is better than Wilcox.....

1. Dooley is more on the hot seat. If Muschamp goes 6-6 again this year, he gets one more year. Dooley goes 6-6 this year he gets fired...

2. Tie.

Muschamp inherited a team infected from within by entitlement and selfishness. He cleaned house - (UF dropped down to 63 scholarship players after Meyer left - a horrible situation in the SEC) and has started to rebuild. UF needed someone to clean house and he did it.

Dooley came into a terrible situation. He has built UT back up to a full roster of SEC caliber players. Maybe he's not the man for the job, but the next coach at UT should be in a far better position than either Kiffin or Dooley were when they came in.
