Douchebag in Sec. 104 today

If you can't stand, stay home. There is a slight chance that someone may want to stand at a live sporting event with thousands of people. I know its crazy, just the way it is. Get over it.

Truth.

Don't get all pissy when someone gets excited about a sporting event.

If you don't want to deal with one of the potential aspects of the game- standing- keep your old ass at home and don't complain. I got the same crap from a pair of old-ass Florida fans last season in Neyland *****ing at me and the people in front of me to sit down, to which I told them "no" and ignored their whining the rest of the game.

When 98% of people are not standing, don't stand. Come on use some common sense. I was in 106 and several of us stood at diferent times and as some sat down we would all sit again. It's really not that hard to get along. Some of you blow me away!!

Exactly.

There's nothing wrong with standing if there are a lot of other people standing. But if you are in a section of 500 people, and you are literally the only one standing, just sit your ass down. You can still cheer your team on with your butt in your seat. The guy was asked politely to sit multiple times before it escalated to what it did. He was an embarrassment to our fan base.

If I paid for my ticket I'd dance in my damn chair if I want to. I don't care what the people around me do. If you go to a live sporting event it's to have an experience you can't have at home. Standing is part of it. If that usher had come to me I would've told him to get his boss over to me and give me court side seats with nobody behind me if he didn't want me doing something I paid for and that is not against the rules.

If there is a big sign that says "No standing" then we have a problem. But I've never been in an arena that says that.

If you are the only one standing in a section of 500 people, and refuse to sit after being asked to sit by ushers and security, you'll get ejected.

If you don't have the decency to sit down when there are elderly people directly behind you and they ask you politely to sit, you're not proving how big a fan you are. You're just proving how big of an inconsiderate jackass you are.

<25 yrs old attitude--OK to stand, to heck with how it impacts other people

>25 old attitude--Gee, I should probably think about how my behavior impacts other people

It's called growing up and acting like an adult. Eventually most of you "f everyone else I paid f my ticket I can do whatever I want" folks will get to the place everyone else is but in the meantime you are real douchebags.

Quite a few people seem unaware that making noise and sitting down are not mutually exclusive. There are even studies that show a person can actually yell while sitting down.

Never a problem at any memphis grizzlies game I have ever attended and fedex forum rocks.. Of course there tends to be a disproportional share of "grownups" at the games vs a college event.

Then they can throw me out and refund my money. Last I checked I still live in a free country. If they have rules against something (like I said) then it's one thing. If they don't, then I'll do whatever I damn well please. If doing things within my rights and within the spirit of the game are "being an inconsiderate jackass" then I guess the entire student section and most true fans I've ever met are all jackasses. and I will gladly be labeled one myself. Have a good time with your uptight "old person" mentality as it seems volnation is filled with. If you are too old to stand and have fun, stay the hell home.

If you are over 25 I'd be shocked...eventually you will grow up and show some consideration f others but as I said in the meantime...what a douchebag. It is a symptom of your age...grownups don't do that as a general rule. If you are much over 25 there is not much hope but really, I very much doubt that. 20? Can you drink yet?

It really comes down to being a considerate person. Just don't be a jerk. It's not that hard

If you are ever sitting behind me and you ask me to sit down, this will be the response you get.

I own this seat from the floor to the heavens. I paid for it the same as you did for yours

But you don't ("to the heavens") and that's why if another customer pressed the issue you'd be asked to leave

I don't pick sides in this argument, but it comes down to this. If standing is allowed in the arena, that's tough sh!t for the people annoyed by it. If it bothers you that much, all you can do is ask the person to sit, or get an usher to help you. But as long as standing person isn't being disorderly, don't expect them to get on their knees in contrition when you ask them to stop.

Still, it's not about being a douche, it's being able to enjoy the game within the terms of the arena rules. As long as they're not being broken, tough sh!t.

I don't stand all game, but there are plenty of times when they need crowd support, and I'll stand for a defensive possession when everyone else is sitting down. No one has ever been butthurt at me for it, but if they were, I would kindly say I'll sit after we get the ball back.

In the same way you don't want others to douche and stand in the way, you can't be a douche to those same people.

Simple...if the majority is standing, you stand. If you don't want to or even can't, well you're kind of screwed. I know there's been many times I've not wanted to stand really but the people in front of me were standing, and the people in front of them, etc.

If hardly anyone is standing, sit down.

I was at the Oklahoma St./Tennessee game at Bridgestone in 06, and the section I was in pretty much everyone stood most of the game. If I wanted to see, I had to stand. This old guy behind me, who was pretty much the only one sitting, kept tugging on my shirt telling me to sit. Finally I turned around and told him I was sorry but everyone is standing and I can't see unless I stand. He left me alone pretty much after that, but in that case, I had no sympathy for him.

We're talking about social norms more than arena rules although both apply.

I was reading the back of the ticket from yesterday's game. The third sentence states:

"(Ticket) Revocable if user is disruptive, endangers others, or uses vulgar, threatening or demeaning language."

Being the only person standing in an entire section and also daring people to test him definitely qualifies as being disruptive. He would have been booted had he not finally sat.

Yeah the arena is not going to let people act like jackasses, but they are sure as hell not going to tell the excited fan to sit down.

There is a line, and it's pretty bold. If you don't cross the line, no way in hell any arena security or ushers are going to tell you what to do.

If there is a fan in front of you than wants to stand up get off your lazy ass and stand up too. There is no excuse in my mind for ridiculing a fan that wants to stand up at a basketball game.

I have no problem with someone standing if there is something worth standing for such as an important defensive stand or something, but not just to be rude to others around you. It should not be that hard to know when it is ok to stand.

I would say the disruptive part is probably quite subjective.

Yes there is obviously a line between "you can never stand up" or "standing up at any time for an extended period is always ok".. If everyone in your section is standing, I mean...why fight that battle? Time and a place for it as others have said

The problem is that you are not the one whose opinion is valid. That's up to arena management.
