I don’t think that’s true. The term “tampering” is thrown around for collectives reaching out to players not in the portal too. Regardless, there’s no way to enforce it and/or prove it, unless the kid being contacted is upstanding and comes forth and provides tangible proof (emails, texts, sample contract etc). It's illegal for teams to do it. NIL reps can talk to whoever they want to.
According to Pitt coach Pat Narduzzi, UNC Quarterback Drake Maye was offered $5 million in NIL money by 2 different schools. Narduzzi doesn't disclose the 2 schools, except to say 'take 2 of the top 10', which probably doesn't strictly mean teams ranked top 10 at the moment, but 2 that are routinely up there on NIL.
Who are your all's guesses on the 2 schools?
Georgia is my best guess on the 1st one. Florida, Texas A&M, Bama,USC (looks like Caleb Williams will still be there), and Ohio State are all possibilities on the 2nd. It's possible, but seems unlikely, that we went after him (seems more likely we've tried to get Hartman than Maye).
Saban won't go quietly and allow UGA to assume a dominant position in the conference. Should be interesting to see who the kid would like to play for. Nicky or Kirby. Tough decision.
Actually I'm not sure $5M is overpaying these days for a high level college QB.Texas A&M and Miami. It ain't the teams that are already winning at an elite level and putting tons of guys in the league that have to pay above market rate for recruits. It's the ones who have plenty of money and little else to offer.
I hear you, but I also live in Georgia and most of the Dawg fans I know do not think they are the market for a starter, they expect Carson Beck or Brock Vandagriff to start for them next year and probably whoever loses the competition in the spring, transfers.Actually I'm not sure $5M is overpaying these days for a high level college QB.
What were the rumors about Nico's NIL at TN?

It ain’t Kirby’s money…….I don't have any inside info, but I don't think Kirby Smart would be spending that kind of money on a QB. If UGA even has big NIL money, Kirby would rather spend it on defense, IMO. Also, Smart says he's happy with his three returning QB's, but if one decides to transfer I could see them in the market for a serviceable backup.
It ain’t Kirby’s money…….
Your program is currently the best in football, but if I’m a 5 star or high profile portal QB I’m not sure UGA is where I’m going to show off my abilities. Kirby doesn’t exactly have a great history with big time QBs.Well, whomever's money, it may not be a wise investment. They can pay all they want for a high priced QB, but they may very well end up watching a walk-on win the job. I'm just saying that if Kirby has any influence on NIL/buying players, his history suggests he'd rather build his teams around the defensive side.
Ok, I found it. He’s being coy and saying what I would expect the offending schools would say. I wonder why he’s protecting them? Why didn’t you post the link instead of a screenshot?
You don't even believe the BS that you typed surely. They just got two WR's out of the portal. They need an experienced QB to complete the offense. This is pretty easy if you're being honest.Well, whomever's money, it may not be a wise investment. Depends on who gets screwed over. USC taking a player from Pittsburgh is obviously not a big deal to the ncaa.I think teams are going to realize there will be no sanctions in response to tampering.
The Jordan Addison case was completely a slam dunk. It is obvious nothing was done.
Now it's opens season.
Conferences might say something, but unless the tampering is done within the Conference, it will not matter
I hope he was being honest in that interview. Really don't want to see this kid running UGA's offense especially with those new WR's they nabbed from the portal.Ok, I found it. He’s being coy and saying what I would expect the offending schools would say. I wonder why he’s protecting them?
Drake Maye breaks silence on transfer talk, NIL rumors
