With college playing experience and a college education all kinds of doors open in a lot of areas but ya know in today's world you gotta seize on those openings. I'm very excited for you.

Yea I am hoping. I have been volunteer coach for high school wrestling and Football for 9 years. I am coaching a kids arena league team now. So I love coaching and my aspirations is to be a head coach in Football even if it's high school level.

Well the best advice I can give you that you might not have already thought of (of course you need to get the football side of things so I won't bother with advising you there) is to find a great teacher -- and I don't mean of the game but a great teacher period.

It doesn't matter who he or she is or what subject they teach. Find someone who connects to their students, and knows how to take even the hardest subject and explain it in simple terms and pay attention to what it is they do and how they do it. THAT is the key to coaching and leadership in general, imo.

Anyone with brains and determination can study and learn enough to coach a team but the key is in finding how to transmit the information in your head to others. We all know brilliant people who can make 1+1 hard to understand because they're missing the knowledge of how to teach others. You want to find someone who can make E=MC² sound like the easiest thing in the world to learn AND make you excited about learning it even though you didn't care about the subject beforehand.

If you can find someone who makes you want to learn your most hated subject then you've found your man or woman.

ETA: And one other thing... when you teach or coach others, never pretend you know more than you do. Own up to not knowing something and tell them you'll find out. People whether they're young or old can smell bs and you'll lose their trust in a heartbeat.

What if scenario: You are playing linebacker...UT down by 5 pts, 10 seconds left in the game.....UT has it 4th and 10 from the USA 17 yard line. Alden Hill breaks thru the line....you're the only one who has a chance to stop him. Alright Big Orange fan, what do you do. Do you take him out, or whiff on the tackle and blame it on watching too much Sal Sunseri defense?

I'd tackle him if it was me...

I'm a huge Vol fan....

But I wouldn't want to spend the rest of the season in a locker room full of 80 pi$$ed of guys that hate you. Lol

Yea through My years of coaching right now, especially in wrestling I have realized this. Wrestling is a sport where detail is really important and same for Football. A lot of coaches just want to see a hard hit or something instead of maybe the right stance, angle, read etc. Thank You for your advice though man. Thanks a lot

Congrats! So you played for the Titans? I know a few guys who played on the team.

Played for the Generals and the Rockets formally known as the titans. Correct. Last year we were undefeated and won the BCS semi pro national championship.

if they have any open schollies and need a SS or OLB, tell them you know someone. im a year younger than you lol... i wish i could play again

There are a lot of "semi pro" teams all over the nation. Most are just guys wanting to play football cause they love it. There are some really talented players on the level still. I'm sure there are some teams near your location.

That's not the part I'm worried about lol I am worried how much they will get ticked off when I celebrate Tennessee first touchdown haha

Lol. You might end up hating the Vols after that day. You have to feel pride in the team you will be playing for. Hope you have a great experience man. Wish I could play in that stadium.

I play Fullback mainly. I will work with the LBs some during Summer and see what the depth looks like there. They are thin right now but a few freshman coming in

Can you fill us in on the scouting report the coaches give you? After the game of course. :)

Where do y'all get your recruits from? What do coaches look for. Obviously the cream of the crop is spoken for. Do you compete for players with schools like TSU? TIA

congratulations. what a cool story. I had a promising baseball career that got ruined with a terrible knee injury. Didnt have the MRI's and technics of today unfortuneately. So i know what a great feeling it must be for you.

Enjoy your season, it will make memories for a lifetime. Sorry for you though, that we won't be last years team, otherwise you might have a career day (haha). just kidding, thats what it seemed like last year, every QB had season career highs.

take care and best of luck to you

I'm a vol fan living here in Alabama too! I grew up in Tennessee though! My brothers two daughters attend South Alabama. You can bet we will be in Knoxville when the Jags take on the vols, and it will be a little bitter sweet. Best of luck man, but go vols!
