Drew Pember getting some love on ESPN

Makes you wonder just how good Rick is at evaluating (and exploiting) the talent on his roster.

He definitely should not have let this one slip away.

We sure could use that 20 points per game this season.
Good grief...the lengths some people will travel to manufacture a criticism of Barnes.

How many people…yourself included, I’d bet…complained when Barnes took Pember early in the recruiting process?

How many people…yourself included, I’d bet…celebrated when Pember hit the transfer portal?

Yet now, he is somehow the missing piece to the puzzle for Tennessee.

If you can’t see the difference in getting playing time, developing, and succeeding at UNCA and doing so at Tennessee, then that’s on you.

Honestly, @Special Ed is clueless. I’m not sure if he’s just a troll or just uninformed or just ignorant of facts regarding Pember, but boy, he just keeps interjecting his way into the annals of ignorance.

He wasn't while he was here
I said he would help. He would not be a focal point of the other teams defense if he was here. He would get some good looks and make some threes. Some of you people would argue with a fence post.

Love to see it. ESPN did a college basketball fantasy draft and Pember was the 24th pick.

“Yes, he's my mid-major guy, but he's so much more than that. Pember is a 6-10 star who has connected on 42% of his 3s this season. Overall, he's averaging 20.3 PPG, 9.3 RPG and 2.7 SPG. Pember is a force. And he'll come off my bench ready to do some damage. You might not know him now. But he's the real deal.”
This is false… sorry, saw him play against Dayton this year and he was awful, week on offense and defense, Dayton probably scored 20 points off of posting him and drop stepping to the baseline. He settled for long 3s with terrible misses. It was not good… this is a poor evaluation by ESPN

Ok...I'll play along and "wonder" for a moment. Here are Drew's stats from real competition:

lmao

This has to be the lamest attempt to bash CRB yet but I guess desperate people do desperate things and CRB keeps proving you guys wrong.
Fahr CRB!!!
Having an SEC level supporting cast around you helps. I'm sure hes the #1 focus when going up against UNC/Arkansas. He would be the 3rd or 4th guy to key on during any rotation this year.

As a Bearden alum I was a big Pember supporter, and appreciate and glad of his production this season, but does anybody or everybody think he has the mobility and stamina to play the switching defense like Coach requires at any of positions on the court?

I am a UT fan from birth but a Belmont alum and had hoped he would go there when he started looking around. He would have been a great fit there too.

I’m pretty sure you’re clueless about basketball. Sometimes it’s better to not speak than to speak and remove all doubt. That‘s not intended as a personal observation about you, but it does speak to your basketball knowledge.

There's no need to get your bowels in an uproar or your panties in a wad. Sometimes, when I'm away from home, my son logs onto my computer and into the VolNation site under my moniker. Now that I've returned home from a short vacation, I see the boy has been busy posting recent comments. He can't work because of physical handicaps and he doesn't get out of the house much, so he has a lot of free time on his hands and likes nothing better than taking the piss out of his old man by posting snarky comments designed to engender a risible or inflammatory response. Meanwhile, I believe the quote you almost cited is, "It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt", usually attributed to Ben Franklin, Mark Twain, or several other notable historical figures.

So, to be clear, are you making a case that CRB mismanaged Drew's development and that he should still be here and, if he was, he would be a meaningful contributor? If not, what's the point of your reply?

This is the dumbest assumption I’ve ever read.

My point was he is keyed on by defenses so it’s not surprising UNC or Arkansas shut him down. If he transferred back here next year he wouldn’t be the defensive focus and you’d see decent production against high level opponents. I didn’t say anything about Barnes, but of course you want to take my post as a slight at Barnes.

Suggest you learn the difference between an assumption and a question...lol.

Next, try to keep up...especially when the question is predicated on the discussion at hand. Apparently, you need to read the thread before hitting reply in the future - if you had done this you would understand why CRB was mentioned (hint: I was not the first to bring up his name) and why your response seemed to indicate you agree with the original poster's premise and, again, it is why I posed a clarifying question to you. .

And speaking of dumb assumptions - see the bolded above.
