The reason the NCAA exists is to prevent an unfair competitive advantage. Why don't you post something contrary.
Timing of lawsuit is immaterial. NCAA just needs info that an amateur athlete came up with 100K while in school.
That was certainly one of their goals. Read the first couple pages of the manual if you think that's their sole purpose. Also, check out the philosophies behind the current rules changes. They're eliminating most of the rules designed to prevent competitive advantages. They realize that it's impossible to create the environment that the current rules sought to.
The lawsuit does matter. Evidence is required to punish a university. I think you would want some evidence before your school was punished for having a kid throw $30k down on some jewelry.
