Duke/UNC anyone?

I have never seen Drake play, but I do not remember Dr. Tom's teams ever running like UT does under Pearl.

They don't. They are a much slower version of Tennessee. Run a flex motion offense like us, and a full court press like us.

OK, but what is your argument, Dickens? Again, I have not seen Drake play, however, I just do not see a mid-major making very far in the tournament this year. The major conference field seems like it is going to be pretty deep with strong talent heading into March.

Oh it wasn't an argument. I just said in an earlier thread that Drake was a mid-major version of TN and VIA pointed out the difference in offensive tempo (which he is fully right about). We kinda switched to this thread. Anyway. All I was saying is that they run a very similar offense and defense to us.

I think it stemmed from someone saying they wouldn't want to meet them in the tourney. I think we'd run them off the court. But like I said... they can get back in a game much like we can. They have some greeeaaat shooters.

show me one time where i have ever bragged about duke's rebounding this year. I dare you. It's downright dreadful. neither team is going to win the national title. With favorable bracket, either can get to the elite eight. A lot of luck and maybe Final Four. But i don't see either of them beating Memphis, UCLA or Kansas. I also don't see either beating a healthy UNC.

With North Carolina's transition defense (or lack thereof), Tennessee would have a very good shot on a neutral floor. UCLA, Kansas, and Memphis are the only teams that I can confidently say are better at this point.

no, it sounds like a game where you're going to have an entire fan base crying and whining and making excuses for whatever perceived breaks the other team got.

and what's worse is every other team that plays UNC or Duke usualy has the same complaint.....the got the calls.

well this game, you got the two teams that get the majority of all calls against anyone they play besides each other, so the key has to be............who shoots more f/t's. wonderful.:banghead2:

This game sucked because you didn't see two teams at the top of their game going at each other...

You saw one team playing their game and the other struggling to figure out how to play without their heart and soul player...

UNC is completely differant without Lawson...with him their a top 3 team...without him they are maybe a top 20 team...

With Lawson they score about 24 points a game in transition....last night they had six

I heard a good analogy about it last night..."You can have a beautiful car but if you don't have the engine it's not going to run"

I hope and pray that Lawson is back and healthy when they play in about a month...

If they get a healthy Lawson it will be a completely differant outcome

I don't think they're a top 3 team even with Lawson. Not enough D. They're perilously close to losing touch with those top 3 teams in my mind.

What a silly argument this has been.

Why does every Duke thread always go 20 pages long?

Why does Stunna and Dickens think UT is the greatest thing since slice cheese? And, why do they think the almight Sweat Hog (Bruce) is going to lead them to the promise land?

I honestly think the only place Bruce is leading to is; Boston College asap.

Because Duke is simply the best! :) They are awesome! They get it done with flopping 24/7 and having the easiest ooc schedule, worth talking about days on end, didn't you know!? :birgits_giggle:

Where is your evidence supporting that claim? If believing they're a top 5 team is saying "UT is the greatest thing since slice cheese," then I guess I'm
guilty as charged (as would a large portion of the college basketball world).

If Carolina is so good, why are they losing to inferior opponents at home (at full strength against Maryland)?
Moreover, why are they letting teams like Georgia Tech and Florida State take them to the final possession or overtime?

The same KY team that lost to Florida, Gardner-Webb, UAB and Houston?

Duke was on fire from outside last night and UNC didn't have Lawson.

I'm not saying we will beat these teams if we play them but I think we can beat them.

UT is a good team, but I just don't see them as a top 5 team..

Memphis, Duke, UNC, KU, and UCLA are solid one through 5...I think Memphis could even stand to lose the game to UT and still take the 1 seed overall in the tourny....UT/Georgetown are respectable 2 seeds though.

Duke is even weaker in post production than Tennessee (they're also not nearly as deep or athletic). Right now, it's UCLA, Kansas, Memphis, Tennessee and Duke rounding out the best 5 in the country. Even with Lawson, the Tarheels are going to have to improve defensively if they have Final Four aspirations.

In all fairness to Memphis, Calipari was well aware that his conference is crap...Did all he could do in scheduling games with; Oklahoma, UCONN, Cinncy, Georgetown, Arizona, USC, Gonzaga, and UT...Thats about all you can do for OOC scheduling...They C-USA just sucks terribly...I wonder if UM will ever get the oppurtunity to get out of there?

Im not saying this because I am a Duke fan, but Duke is every bit of athletic/deep that Tennessee is. Scheyer is a 6 man for goodness sakes.

We will see....I think you are in for a huge letdown if you are thinking UT will ride all the way to FF....Duke is not going there either by the way...If they make it to the sweet 16 I will call it a successful year, next year and the year after is when Duke will finally be a contender again...This is UT's best shot, losing to much guard play next season...Maybe that will help them out in terms of motivation.

Duke Crews, I am glad he is healthy but is not a very good post player, Singler and Lance Thomas could keep him in check as well as Chism. Although Chism is a better player than Crews.

A team like UNC would give UT fits, psycho T would destroy the post and they can run just as fast as UT can...

I will stick with my guns by saying, UT/Georgetown are the 6-7 best teams in the country...solid 2 seeds...
