Hats off to the Dookies..they definitely looked better this time around...maybe we'll get round 3 this sunday.:)

I hope that is true. Correct me if I am wrong, but I read not long ago that the ACC title has never been decided with a championship game Duke vs UNC

In the last 20 years, they've met six (6) times in the title game (3-3), but not since 2001.

1989 UNC
1991 UNC
1992 Duke
1998 UNC
1999 Duke
2001 Duke

I'm hoping Duke can pull the upset over Carolina. Carolina's just more experienced at point and have a way better frontline.

It does ring a bell now that you point it out. I read about it somewhere. Maybe it was they have never played each other in the final 64 team bracket.

They've never met in the NCAAs, but they did meet in the NIT in 1971 (back when the NIT was a bigger deal). UNC won that game.

That would be something if one day there was a Duke-UNC game for the national title. Talk about braggin rights

I, for one, hope that never happens. It would be a death sentence for the losing program, the ultimate trump card which could never be repaid. Makes me ill just thinking about it. btw, I've heard K say he'd love for it to happen one day, but I'm sure he's lying. Lose that game and your legacy takes a huge hit.

By "one day", I think he means when he is gone. Every book of his i've read he mentions how he would never wish that on the fans or programs.

I didn't mean for them to be. I didn't want to call you a liar. I'm sure you heard what you heard. I personally haven't heard him say that.

Dylan, I appreciate you not calling me a liar, although it sounds like you were tempted, lol. Anyway, IIRC (and I could be wrong), it was Dean Smith that never wanted to have the two play each other and it was K that said he thought it would be fun, or something to that effect. I recall them both being asked about the possibility around the same time, though I don't think it was during the 1991 Final Four.

My recollection is almost certainly not from a book, just something in a news conference. Probably early to mid-90s so I doubt there's a link. Not saying this topic isn't discussed in a book somewhere, just not one I remember reading.
