Dylan Raiola, #1 QB for 2024, flips from Dawgs to Nebraska

What would really be cool is if the so-called sports journalists actually went about their day practicing...wait for it...journalism!

Some thing big happened here for this flip. And all the dumbass "journalists" are writing crap instead of someone actually finding out the truth of the matter.

This happens all the time. Kid leaves school A for B, says some b.s. about suddenly discovering the staff of B really are truly altruistic, and sports media collectively nods its empty head.

Get off my lawn!

not sure this is the instance to make that argument.

1. this kid likes to bounce around. played at 4 different high schools, now committed to his 3rd college. could just be moving on to the next thing without anything changing.
2. His family has deep Nebraska ties. dad played there, uncle is a coach there. family ties may have worn down whatever love he had for Georgia.
3. Before he committed to Georgia he was favored to commit to Nebraska it was kinda a surprise Georgia got him at the time. so this is more of a righting of the ship in that regard than signs of a big change.
4. I am sure this was a bidding war and over time Nebraska either over took Georgia's offer, or became good enough to tempt him away from Georgia. may not have been a big jump, just making up ground overtime.
5. Georgia's QB announced he is coming back like a day before Raiola changed his commitment. he is almost assured a starting job at Nebraska, not so much at Georgia. that may be the biggest thing that changed.

Shot in the arm for Nebraska...lord knows they need something good to happen in Lincoln
Isn't he a legacy player for Nebraska? I thought his dad either played, or coached at Nebraska.

I think the dawgs may have dodged a bullet here. That poem is cringe.
THIS!

4 high schools and 3 colleges before signing day.

It was highly unlikely he would have played any meaningful snaps his first two seasons. So, he would have left anyway.

YIKES with his autistic Dr. Seuss stuff. šŸ¤®

Suck it Dawgies
In the grand scheme of things, does this really affect Georgia? Not really.

Carson Beck coming back and probably the best pure passer in CFB and will likely be a Heisman finalist.

Gunner Stockton, #7 rated QB in the country in the 2022 class, would have most likely beat out Raiola next year anyway, after 3 years in the system, plus he's a much better athlete than Dylan.

AND, lets not forget Ryan Puglisi, the #9 rated QB in this class headed to Georgia which many consider to have the strongest arm in the country.

Dylan was the #1 rated QB in his class the past couple of years until transferring into an elite Georgia high school program and playing amongst the best. Well, I think he found out he wasn't as elite as once thought and his stock began to drop, as well as, his ranking.

It's probably best for him to go where there's little to no competition and lose games with his family at Nebraska.

At Georgia, it's all about competition and survival of the fittest. Where 5-stars might not even see the field for a couple years.

Also, if you've heard Kirby's explicative-laced speeches', Riola's limp-wristed poetry might not go over so well in the Dawgs locker room.

Lastly, let's not forget, despite losing a 5-star QB, Georgia still has the #1 signing class. Just saying...

He is and I believe he has an uncle on the staff.
Still it's a big deal for Nebraska as he's been committed to the Dawgs for a long time

Your comments make sense to me. I was surprised when he initially committed to GA instead of Nebraska after he decided against tOSU. In truth though, who knows the real reason he is ultimately choosing Nebraska?

It could very well be family ties or a more streamlined avenue to a starting job. Could be Nil possibilities. I think likely it is a mixture of all of the above.

Impossible at this point to be confident in the why. Could be that he has always wanted to be at Nebraska and was just playing the leverage game. Not saying itā€™s so, but it could potentially fit the narrative. He is a very big time recruit, could be he wanted to maximize his early earning potential.

Like I said, who knows? Could be that he is just a teenager that canā€™t easily make his mind up! Itā€™s a big decision and Iā€™m sure there are many big voices pulling and pushing all the time.

I hate that he isnā€™t coming to GA! But I do sincerely hope he has made the best decision for himself. Only time will tell. I wish him the best, of course until he faces my Dawgs!

Yeah and itā€™s crazy how his family just wasted all that money to move out there so he could play for Buford and sign with UGA.

And I thought Seatonā€™s reason for spurning us for Colorado was crazy lol. I can understand his reasons for picking Nebraska, but that crazy ass poem put it over the top šŸ¤£

Yeah I must admit, the poem helps me to not care so much that he flipped. Also the belief I have that he would have likely transferred before ever starting for GA.

I see that the dawg propaganda machine has been cranked up to full blast. Itā€™s too bad the best pure passer in CFB couldnā€™t lead his team to an SEC championship.

I really think he couldā€™ve known about Beck returning and just doesnā€™t want to sit. Kirby favors experience in his qbā€™s. Isnā€™t the last freshman he started Fromm? I bet his family really pushed the ā€œsaviorā€ narrative to Nebraska also.

For reference, I was speaking on returning QBs going into the 2024 season.

One 3-point loss to a very good team in a game with some very questionable calls.

Also, considering his best two targets, Bowers and McConkey were attempting to play injured and limping on and off the field, Beck was still a solid 21 for 29.

Truth be told, Beck hasn't really played a bad game yet. I would take him over any returning quarterback including Quinn Ewers.

Yes, you could be right. And yes the last freshman to start was Fromm, and he initially got the chance bc Jacob Eason was injured.

I also agree that Kirby favors experience in QBs. I think he prefers a signal caller that is comfortable with the offense and can excel in things such as pre-snap reads. Not that our QBs always excel in this, but I feel that is certainly a goal. Itā€™s tough for a Freshman or first year QB to be consistent in these things.

Like you eluded to, Raiola was surely going to sit behind Beck next season, and very likely sit for another season. It feels like perhaps he wasnā€™t comfortable taking the chance.

Smart can't close!!!
Speaking of closing, it looks like Kirby is gonna flip Raiola's teammate, the other 5-star from Buford High, KJ Bolden, #1 safety in the country.

All of the "experts" at 247sports have switched their crystal ball predictions tonight from his verbally committed school FSU, all switching it to Georgia!

This supports my point. Five conjectures and, like all of these "flip" instances, sports journalists are the equivalent of mules with blinders on.
