Dylan Sampson named SEC POTY, Pearce and McCoy on 1st team - USA Today sports

You're kidding, right? Dude is double teamed on every snap, and still wreaks havoc, shown in all his QB pressures. The attention he gets throughout a game makes the rest of the D-Line look that much better, and I'd bet Banks would say the same. He's become a beast as a run defender as well. Teams that pass him up in the draft will live to regret it.

Unless you judge D-Linemen on sack numbers alone, it's hard to fathom how you could come up with that conclusion.
To be All SEC first team, you need to produce. Outside of being really quick, he is really limited when it comes to pass rush moves. I felt he disappeared a lot. Maybe this was due to playing only snaps where they knew a pass was coming. Why? Because he was ineffective against the run.

Thank goodness for modern day football. Because if Sampson had fumbled the 2nd time, he would have never seen the field again under Fulmer. Thanks Heup!! For allowing DS to run for 2k yds, and knowing strips can come with that many carries!

Historically, every SEC player of the Year winner is at least in the discussion for the big national awards, except when they are at UT…

Congrats DS! Very well deserved.

Well, I'll probably be crucified for this but how about Mason Thomas.
Mason Thomas
- 22 Tkls 9 sacks

James Pearce Jr
- 35 Tkls 7.5 sacks
And he got 6 of those sacks in conference play.
He made key plays all year. He caused a fumble against Florida on the goal line. Many 3rd down stops.

Pearce was outstanding this year. Not to mention there’s a highlight video of how many times James Pearce was just held hahaha., but never called as penalty.
Pearce was certainly more effective than Thomas, and only the DE from Ole Miss was just as destructive

Getting snubbed from Doak Walker…it’s the least they could do.

AP player of the year but not a Heisman finalist (Hooker). It's almost as if it's something we got to expect until they win nattys and get that respect.

"Natty" has nothing to do with these awards. Tennessee is in the National Championship Conversation. The Doak Walker just got it wrong with leaving Sampson out of the final cut. Have to see who votes for the DW. Heistman? We all know about the UT bias with that one, it's nothing to me anymore. Majors & Manning clearly were the deserving winners .

You can't tell me that if he a G or an 6 on his helmet playing for Georgia/Bama that he wouldn't be on that list.
