East Tennessee Weather II

What’s the 0z NAM looking like?

Better than the 18Z. One thing to note. It calculates the storm well in the beginning hours and then loses it. For areas west was the same for us until the storm was closer. I got a feeling my forecast my come to frutation.

One of the large DOE contractors in Oak ridge called off.

I can’t believe my company did. (I’m glad they did). Says a lot of how they care for the employees! Told us to enjoy the snow. I called safety Sam and told her that Wednesday morning will be just as bad. With the front slowing down and the temps. She said, why don’t we just come to you from now on! I died, told her I don’t get that pay.

Yep...looking forward to a snow day :) actually tomorrow was my late office hour day so it's a double win

Good for you man! Best guess, you’ll get another one this week too. I’m dying for the RGEM. If it holds or goes boom I’ll stroke out!

JC do you know how cold it has to be with the treatment they put on the roads not to work? It’ll be different with what’s falling tomorrow.

Darth another thing to note.

You’re looking for consistency in the models when you’re watching them. When the 18Z came out I knew something was off. The precious runs where all about the same or showing more QPF. Now if the 0Z stuck with the 18 then yes, that’s a trend to follow.

Guess it depends on what they use...salt is cheapest 20-22

Calcium Chloride (-25o F)
Magnesium Chloride (5o F)
Sodium Acetate (5o F)
Calcium Magnesium Acetate (5oF)
Potassium Chloride (12o F)
Urea (15o F)
Sodium Chloride (20-22o F)
Various Blends (usually 20-22o F)
BREAK THE ICE (comparison of Ice Melting Chemicals) | Peters Chemical Company

You the man! You, JC, and VK - as always - doing a great job.

JC I don’t think you’ll get that big hole. The model has been acting up latlely. I think it had the same hiccop the 18z had.
