~Severe Weather Alert~

There's an Enhanced risk for Severe thunderstorms in the southwest portion of East TN (Chattanooga, Soddy Daisy, Cleveland, etc) and most of Middle TN. There's a Slight risk for Strong to Severe thunderstorms in West TN and a few additional areas in the Southern Valley and Plateau (Athens, Etowah, Crossville, ect). There's a Marginal risk for Strong to Severe thunderstorms for the rest of the Southern Valley and the Central Valley.

Primary Risks:

Enhanced = Damaging winds in excess of 60 mph, large hail up to Half Dollar size (may see some isolated larger sizes), and a few tornadoes are possible (with a strong tornado or 2 possible as well)

Slight = Damaging winds up to 60 mph, large hail up to quarter size, an isolated tornado or 2 can't be ruled out.

Marginal = Same as Slight, but tornado threat will be near zero.

Timing:

Monday afternoon into the evening hours.

Side note:

When I post the "Severe Weather Alert and Bulletin", they are not official forecasts. Those are my first initial thoughts on an upcoming storm system.

This week in TN..beautiful weekend for outdoors today and yesterday, tornados and thunderstorms tmr, snow wed, that’s nuts

Here's a good graphic from Morristown as far as severe threats currently on the table and timing.

Morristown has now confirmed that there was a tornado on highway 68 between Tellico and Coker Creek. It's believed to be an EF-0 tornado with winds around 85 mph.

This is strictly an observation, but I'm seeing some similarities with this upcoming system to the one that devastated Middle and Southeast TN back in April 10, 2009. I hope I'm wrong about that.

What do you think about timing VK? Between 5pm and 11pm?
