East Tennessee Weather II

Not a forecast but it's hard to tell with these systems on who will get the heaviest pockets. Some of these totals included melted snow on contact and sleet. APT is increasing with moisture every run. 😘

I'm starting to think that the winter storm watch is being issued more for the timing of the snow than the actual amounts. With the transition likely happening during the busiest time of the morning commute, there will likely be a good amount of wrecks. With them issuing a Winter Storm Watch over an Advisory, it will get more people's attention. Regardless of how much snow we see, there's a really good chance for hazardous travel conditions for most if not all of East TN.

I don't have to go to work if it snows.

Even if I had to work, that little kid in me still loves snow. The serenity and calmness when it's falling is awesome.

I have to go to work even if there's a foot of snow. Not a fan of snow, but I understand your point

What time is it supposed to hit?

Go to work in it, work outside in it, etc etc. This one the snow isn't bothering me so much, it's going to be the cold to go along with it. The cold will kill people. Snow just makes us busier than normal. (Usually at first, then it calms down over time)

Side note: it seems like it never fails when we have an extended power outage someone messes up and gets carbon monoxide poisoning from generators.

If you are going to work or anywhere else Tuesday morning, I would highly recommend that you take it slow on the roads and give yourself plenty of time to reach your destination.

As much as I love cold, I'm thankful that I don't live in the upper midwest. Here is the forecast for International Falls, MN:

Update:

In their latest Area Forecast Discussion, Morristown will be changing the Winter Storm Watches to Advisories in the Plateau and Valley, and Warning in the Smokies. They are leaning towards 2-3 inches for most of East TN, with the Mountains getting 3-6 inches.

Alert!!! This is for everyone outside of the mountains.

...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 4 AM EST /3 AM CST/ TO 4 PM EST /3 PM CST/ TUESDAY...
* WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 3 inches expected.
* WHERE...Most of East Tennessee, Southwest Virginia and Southwest North Carolina.
* WHEN...From 4 AM EST /3 AM CST/ to 4 PM EST /3 PM CST/ Tuesday.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Plan on slippery road conditions. Since temperatures will be dropping during the day Tuesday, snow and ice covered roadways are likely. Hazardous driving conditions can be expected that will likely impact the morning or evening commute.

Know this isn’t east TN weather related, but remember those of us that live in the upper Midwest this week. Supposed to be -51 wind chill here in northern Iowa tomorrow night and maybe -55 to -60 below the next. It’s dangerous.
