Eating and Drinking in Knoxville (merged)

Don't know if it was posted yet, but the Lakeside Grill in Concord is very good. I had the 10 Oz. Sirloin with spinach caserole and caesar salad and was very pleased the other night. Everyone at the table said their food was wonderful. Nice View, as well.

You were almost right. It's called Lakeside Tavern, owned by the same people that own Parkside Grill.
And yes, it is awesome. They have half price beer and well drinks from 4-7 m-f, as well as $4.99 all apps, but only if you sit in the bar. If you plan on making it for this, be there by 5, it fills fast. It is on Northshore past Pellissippi pkwy.

Has anyone ate at Koi in Market Square?

A few times. Relatively good, affordable Thai. I had a nice sea bass dish on my last trip there. Oh, and with a very strange little dance club on the side that plays 80s music videos late on weekend nights.

Lakeside also has a great (although extremely busy) Sunday brunch and offers delivery to the slips at the marina below. I can't believe that it is the only "on the water" spot in west Knoxville.

And, before somebody brings up Willy's (the new name of the restaurant at Choto), go first. It's awful and will be gone by the end of the year unless they make some serious changes, both to the staff AND the menu.

I am unaware; care to enlighten?
Without going too deep into mundane details, the only person who ever makes any money off of his projects is Bruce. His halfassed attempt at reopening Harold's is a prime example.

There's a good Chinese place that just opened up (about a month ago) on middlebrook pike past Nixon's deli and close to Cedar Bluff Rd. They have awesome General Tso's and Fried Wontons. It's called China Lee.

Without a doubt, they have the best Chinese in Knoxville (that I've had to date).

Hmmmm. If you haven't been to Hong Kong House recently, try it again for the first time. (West Knoxville, between West Hills and Walker Springs exits, in the shopping center with O'Charley's and T.J. Maxx.) Don't expect great atmosphere or great service - just come for the food. Trust me.

no kidding. We looked at a house on the river. That is awesome. I am on Crestwood....well will be on Crestwood in September.

Was it a brown house with a barn down by the river? It is on Holston Hills Drive.

Not familiar enough to know Crestwood yet, but I am sure we are close.

It really is a cool neighborhood. We'll have to get a drink sometime and talk some Vols football.

Will get that drink. Don't think it was the same house we looked at. I can't wait to get out of the crappy apt we are in and get back to Ktown.

Why do we not have Publix in Knoxville? Is there some sort of zoning with grocery stores? I see that Publix has infilitrated Chattanooga (I believe over the last couple years). Just seems like Knoxville would have a bigger market for them to try and get in.

I also think folks here would kill that store for at least a year. I'm so tired of Food City and Kroger. Ingles and Aldi (sp?) are too far for me to use them regularly.

i'd also like to mention for those who want the best BBQ in Knoxville, that M&M Catering has moved to a new location on Middlebrook.

I finally had some M&M bbq Friday, with the Sweet Hot sauce, and I loved it. Great recommendation. God awful potato salad though.

I had one of their sweet sauces and, while it was good, wasn't all that impressed. I wished I'd gone with regular bbq. Green beans were great, though.
