It wasn't coach speak like you are talking about....I was just briefly summarizing...he said Moore played in small gyms bc he was faithful to his team so he was not ranked as one of the top players in the country and it was griffs opinion that it would prove to a lot of fans that Zo knows what he is doing in recruiting

Again, Martin talks up all his players, doesn't mean they will or won't play. He talked up his 4 freshman last year and he will probably talk up the guys he signs next year. He gave them scholarships after all so he must think they can play. But assuming that every guy he signs will play right away isn't practical.

Definitely don't think many on here think Reese will play right away.

You would argue just about anything wouldn't you.

No not at all, just things that aren't true. You said people on here expecting every player to play right away isn't practical, and I was simply stating that from reactions on this board I don't think many at all are expecting Reese to come in and play right away.

There are far more 3*s careers go the way of Washpun than Lofton.

Not that it means anything or that I really believe Griffith but he was saying he would have been a four or five star if he had of played for a different team.

I like any excuse to be excited about our team. LOL

Would've helped playing the whole year also. Missing 1/2 your senior season can really dampen the recruitment.

This was a relatively disappointing class when compared to what we've been spoiled with the last five years...obviously. I'd be more than happy with the JUCO having a career similar to that of a Melvin Goins - a productive role player either coming off the bench or possibly even starting a portion of the season his first year or two (not sure if he has three years or only two), and then being a very solid contributor his final year. Then, have either one of the two freshmen have a similar career path culminating with consistent, reliable play in their final two years. That'd be good enough for me. No stars, just solid pieces. The '13 class is when we need the big guns.

First, I think you understood that "every player" was simply an expression but chose to argue it any way. If I want people to pick apart every post, down to word choice, verb usage, and proper punctuation I will go to the football boards.

Second, there is as much reason to expect Reese to play as Moore. Both are unheralded 3* recruits with very few other offers that Martin gave scholarships to and has said good things about.

That is not true at all.....if you just look at the stars instead of the individual players....there have been a lot of positive things said about Moore outside our own program.

Moore was in front of enough coaches to get offers if he was really a 4 or 5 star guy. Rivals.com Basketball Recruiting - Hoop Mountain: Top 10 performers And even if he should have been a 4 star guy, being a 4 star guy doesn't mean significant playing time during their Freshman year (Woolridge, Golden, McRae).

And I understand being excited about next season, I am too.

Please compare the offer list for Moore and Reese.

In response to expecting him to contribute...Josh was a 3* and played 15 minutes a game for us just last year.

I see that a lot of people expect Moore to play PG. My question: is his ball handling good enough to compensate for being so tall? Seems like he'd have problems getting the ball stripped against smaller defenders, especially if he's being faced guarded or is trying to break a press. Even saw some of that in his highlight film. He gets a little sloppy with the ball in tight coverage.

He played Some PG in school and is recruited as a combo. CCM expects him to be able to handle the point. He can't be any worse than our back up options last year, and he has the benefit of actually playing PG in HS.

If either one of the two freshman can play defense like Richardson did last year, they'll see PT and contribute. That's what got Richardson on the court. He has a decent mid-range game, and got our offense going in a couple games with some timely shots, but defense was his strong point.

I don't think Moore will be that type of defender, probably solid, but Richardson was exceptional for a defender. However, he plays a position that isn't strong, combo guard. CCM loves versatility and at 6'5" and being able to play the point he brings lots of versatility to the court.

Of course most of those guys on that list were four and five starsand if you click on one of the links, rivals calls him one of the most underrated players in Georgia....I don't expect a lot from him this yr but I am happy to see more and more people talk about what a find he may be.

I did. Moore had 3 offers. Charleston Ole Miss and UT. Reese had a bunch from mid-major and lower, plus UT. So Moore had exactly 1 more big school offer than Reese.

Yes, and Josh was a top 150 recruit as a 3 star.

You were talking strictly number by quality? Also, Moore had an offer from Cincinnati.

How far off of top 150 do you think Moore was, from my understanding not much.

This is where I got the 3 schools for Moore. Armani Moore - Yahoo! Sports if you have different info that says Cincy offered then okay, but I can only work from what Rivals puts on their site. I don't know how far outside the top 150 he was. What are you basing " just outside" on? He's not even ranked by position.

Yes cincy offered, rivals doesnt show it, I know.

Somewhere I read some Georgia rankings, he was ranked, and the guys he was just behind like Stephens where just barely top 150 guys.

Here's a clip I haven't seen posted on here...? 2012 SG Armani Moore, Hoop Planet: After missing the first two days of the event, Moore stepped right in and put on an impressive performance today for Hoop Planet. He attacked the glass off the bounce but he also knocked down a few shots from downtown. Moore could end up signing with an ACC/SEC-type school if he continues to perform at a high level due to his 6'5, 200-pound frame and solid all-around skill-set.

He transferred schools, and was injured, only played the last month or so of high school season. So doesn't play aau junior year, transfers and sits out most of senior year, it's no wonder he didn't get heavily rated. At the start of senior year he had COC, said he was gonna wait to see if bigger schools came calling. He had a great month of ball his sr year when he became able, ole miss offers cincy offers temmessee offer, obviously a trend there.

Wasn't the Hoop Planet thing in July of 2011? That's the date on the link I have for it. So he shows out at that in July but doesn't pick up but 3 big school offers by March. And that's trending?

I'm not saying he can't play. I'm just saying history suggests that Freshman don't contribute that much unless they are highly ranked/skilled, go to a position of dire need, or go to a team with little talent. None of those really apply here. PG is a position of need but I see Richardson or McRae there before Moore (that's just my opinion).

Reading some of these posts, people expect a team that finished 2nd in the SEC last year and lost only 1 significant player to have 3 unproven and unheralded guys just come in and make the 8/9 man rotation. I just find that very unlikely.
