**EDIT** Joey Aguilar Transfers To Tennessee..

It’s great we got Joey, but he has a mountain to climb to be the day one starter. This is Jake’s team until Joey proves otherwise, if for no other reason than knowing the offense better. Coach Heup will lean on that for sure. It may take a few games before we really know what we have.
GMAC looked better than Merk. Aguilar is the best QB we have as of right now.

that Clemson game tells me:
1. He isn't very accurate.
2. He doesn't read the field. It's "throw to a place". He isn't looking at coverage.
3. He is reckless in his decisions.

Scary. But we don't have to count on him. If we let him start and he turns into a problem, let Merk take the reigns.
If Merk played last year at app st, how would he look against Clemson? You can't go by that game, App state doesn't have anywhere near the talent of Clemson

Quick decisions are a key for Coach Heupel's offense.Hooker made them.Nicp was a little slower. If this guy fromApp. St./UCLA can make them quickly.he could be a help for our Vols and the two "M's"qb's we have here now and the number 1 qb coming in 26.

Nico wasn't just a little slower. You could measure his decision making with a sundial at times.

Nothing you stated changes anything I said. He wasn't inaccurate because he was under pressure. He was just flat out inaccurate. That has a lot to do with those interceptions.

Then you’ve never competed at anything have you? Zero chance CJH told him he would be the starter. No coach would do that and no athlete worth a shat would want him to. Competing for the starting job is expected by all.
Someone claimed that Coach did not close Angeli because that QB wanted a commitment for him to be the starter. I get that Angeli wants to be the number one, but that story did not seem believable. A fair competition is all any player should expect and the only promise he should receive. I thought Angeli was the right guy for the job, who would take care of the football and get it where it needs to go. That is not my impression of Aguilar. My hope is that he will become a better QB with better coaching and better players around him. He is very talented and plays without fear. He will need to be disciplined with ball control in practice if he expects to play. No QB has perfect games, but INTs must be held to an irreducible minimum to win hard fought games.

is there a way that the 'powers that be' can stop showing photos of that Nico dude in the Orange and White?...it sickens me to see his mug wearing the uniform he deserted

I agree, but sadly until he takes the field in a UCLA uniform they are gonna be showing his ugly mug in TN gear the rest of the offseason.

Makes me incredibly angry that a large portion of the funds I have donated to Spyre over the last two years ended up in his pockets.

Joe was injured early in the 6th quarter into the season, so he played about five quarters as Hooker also got time in the first game. Some folks here have this meme in their head as if Milton played half the season, sucked it up and Heupel just wouldn't replace him. The guy was coming off two solid performances against Vandy and Clemson.

Five quarters.
I agree with Sara

At least he throws it. Nico would dance around until he got sacked.
Or run out of bounds.. did I say that? 😂 I liked Nico and I think he still has tons of potential but he did sometimes take way too long to get rid of the ball.. and he’s really not our concern any more, so there’s that … some things( or people) can be coached while other things or people cannot ..Exhibit A: Will Levis

I do like that he does have a very quick release

What had to do with Peyton Manning throwing 23 interceptions his last 2 years? I bet you really like him.
What does Payton Manning have to do with this? Do you feel clever because you somehow invoked Tennessee football Jesus in the conversation? Because a guy who had proven himself to be one of the best QB's in the country at the highest level of competition threw the same number of interceptions as the guy the played 2 years for App St., they are somehow comparable? Should my jeep be able to keep with a corvette? They both have 4 tires so they are the same right?

Look at the film. Do you see the missed passes? Do your eyes work? Short passes with open receivers with balls everywhere but where they are? defensive players practically getting hit in the hands by errant passes? Do you see the low throws getting tipped into orbit?

What was his completion percentage? I don't think it was bad.
It's not. He has a 2:1 ratio more or less. I don't think the kid is garbage but it would be shocking for him to light it up once he's here. He's going to be a nightmare to watch. I suspect he's going to stun us with his willingness to be aggressive and push the ball. It's going to create some highlight reel catches and game play. I also feel like a lot of drives are going to die from turnovers.

Won't argue that. I said in another post he's going to create highlight reel plays with his aggressive play and willingness to throw it. He is also going to kill drives with turnovers. Double edged sword. If he can clean up his loose plays and not just chuck it downfield and hope for the best, then he can be good enough to win the games we should.

Comment from the UCLA coach on Aquilar's transfer. This guy is not a reject as some on here believe.
--------------------------------
Aguilar, who was reportedly having a good spring for the Bruins, was expected to serve as UCLA's starting quarterback in 2025. "As soon as we knew what it was (with Nico), I was able to communicate with him (Aguilar) with what was going on," continued Foster. "He said he was going to go back and talk with his family and he made his decision....If he wanted to stay and compete that was fine."

Good thing the defense is stout. I'm still hopeful for a good football season.
