Edward Snowden: American Hero

I've wondered myself the same exact thing. Some speculate his patriotism is what led him down this path. Others on the other hand believe the CIA is behind it. Retaliatory actions to the Obama administration for going after them. Which at first seems crazy, but on the other hand, all the other scandals right now? Who knows ??

His story is very bizarre. 2013 has been a weird news year. Makes you step back and think "WTF is going on"

My only conclusion is that its a 21st century America and evil is very much alive and thriving in this age of social media, easy money and zero personal responsibility

Hmm... just out of curiosity, would a "classified program to kill a race of people in this country" be legal?

You know, legal... like I specified when I referenced the legality of the program?

No?

Oh, okay. So your statement makes no sense. Alright. Carry on then.

Your argument relies on an implied premise that America will only ever pass non-morally repugnant laws. Too bad that history does not vouch for that premise.

No, my argument relies on the premise that the law in question would not be legal.

What difference does that make?

Here are my first two posts in the topic:

Leaking classified information is not heroic. The only thing more disconcerting than Snoweden being hailed as a hero is how some people actually think that Anonymous is a good, noble "thing."

Whether or not anyone was "endangered" by his actions is irrelevant; the man leaked classified information regarding a completely legal NSA program. That is the antithesis of heroic.

I am against calling him a hero for leaking classified information regarding a completely legal government program.

Coming up with "immoral" or "bad" examples of legal exercises/programs in America's past that weren't classified is irrelevant, just as coming up with a hypothetical classified program that would be illegal based on our current laws is also irrelevant.

In this particular situation, this man leaked classified information pertaining to a completely legal government program. This, again, does not make him a hero.

Link to said classified info? I've asked multiple times. ( different posters)

The only thing I can see he has done is violate ethical rules at the work place.

He hasn't threatened national security even though he was in a position to do so.

This is idiotic.

And I responded to you before but, well, I assume you were too busy looking up the definition of the word "misinformed" in the dictionary or something.

The program he exposed was a classified government program. Edward has discussed his leaking classified information, and this is easily verifiable from innumerable sources. Seriously, is this that hard?

So no link huh?

He exposed a process. Not classified info. No lives are in danger. No agents in harms way. No missions are compromised.

Please. A link?

It's not like a ambassadors life is in danger or something.

Exactly. He LEAKED THE PROCESS.

Not classified info. In other words HE CONFIMED WHAT WE ALREADY SUSPECTED.

are you really that dense?

No, I assure you, the guy who can't understand that this entire situation is in regards to classified information is the dense one.

Nobody has ever expected that the government would be violating any persons privacy by illegally stealing emails, texts, phone records etc. this is the first it's ever been brought to light or suspected.

Completely legal and yet questionably unconstitutional. Just because it's the US gov. doesn't mean that the law is just.
