Either Hart is a liar or Hyams and many of you are

Gonna be a lot of burning mattresses when people realize that Gruden isn't coming.

I don't think so. As long as a coach that actually has a winning record as a head coach..in a non garbage conference is hired, people will probably be ok.

Boosters have been the ones making all the phone calls OP, the billion dollar guys that make stuff happen.

I missed a call today with a Kville area code. It was probably Hart. Could have been my one shot. If Gruden becomes coach it will simply be because he answered and I didn't. Oh well, guess I'll just keep working where I work but I'll always know I was just a phone call away from the big time.

So which is it? Is Hart the liar or is it Hyams and many of you? You know, the ones who are claiming they have someone in the know that Gruden is coming or that he's made salary demands. Hyams himself said he heard Gruden wanted 5 million a year for 10 years guaranteed with another 4 million for assistants. Yet, today in the Dooley press conference Hart stated that despite rumors he hasn't contacted ANY candidates for the coaching position. So, who is the liar here....Hart...or Hyams and many of you?

I haven't read any responses----but CMON MAN!! Hart isnt going to say anything but JUST WHAT HE SAID! Good gosh-----where do you find em on here?

SO why would he offer that statement then that nobody has been contacted? Misdirection is lying.....so you're saying Hart is the liar?

Cause it's on a need to know basis and who the *&%*% are you to think you need to know any more than the rest of us? Good grief, calling a man a liar because he is withholding information is just flat out stupid....Please, folks....

Here's the key thing to remember: This is a message board...people are going to say a lot of s*** that may or may not be true. It's best to not get emotional..let things play out my brother. Let it be chill. Do I hope for Gruden? Yeah of course...but if it doesn't happen I won't stop being a Tennessee fan. I'm VFL baby...just sit back and enjoy the ride and take the emotion out of it.

"Liar" is strong. Around me it will get somebody's ass kicked.[/SIZE] The probability is that a 3rd party has contacted another 3rd party (agent) and there are feelers out there. Anybody that doesn't believe that there is something happening behind the scenes is too stupid to share the atmosphere.

You are a liar.

Now what??

Yes, but he also stated he wasn't going to use a search firm and would be searching for a coach on his own. Doesn't sound to me like Hart is the type of guy to allow other people talk dollars and cents with coaching candidates. This is HUGE for him and his legacy.

Search firm =/= Boosters, reps, etc.

Rod Wilks has been contacted.

Rod Wilks is currently under investigation by the USADA for his participation in the Lance Armstrong scandal.

Sources say Lance did not lie when he said he didn't use his own blood to win 7 titles.

But that is is being speculated that he was using Rod's Wilk's blood.

The Dooley payout for the early cancellation of his contract is $5 million.

Hart said Tennessee athletics has just a $1.9 million surplus in its athletic budget, which he called "unheard of in the Southeastern Conference. Some schools have $50 to $100 million." Hart cannot allow the ruin of the entire athletic department in his attempt to stop the dumpster fire that is the football program....can he?

But he said some supporters are willing to step up and, "We will not let finances be a deterrent to hiring the best coach we can."

He stated, "We have a long way to go to bring Tennessee football back to where we want it to be."

The AD also said, "We can't put it all on the coach." He said Tennessee has "some historical disadvantages, which we are dealing with." - What would those be?

In some cases the university was keeping money that at most other schools would stay with the athletic department and issues with student athletes having a more difficult time qualifying academically at UT then other schools.

It's real simple. The folks behind the scenes (Peyton, etc)are taking care of business. So Hart is not lying. Those candidates will be passed to him for approval or denial. Hart is now taking over. He was out of it until the firing.

Additionally, Hart stated, in essence, that "I am privy to a body of information that you guys (i.e. media) aren't," which could well allude to the ongoing negotiations by monied interests.

CONFIDENTIAL AGREEMENTS!!!! You HAVE to either say NOTHING or CLEVERLY LIE! It's a contract!

I would assume that the majority of AD employees signed one. I would hope so!

The grand point is that everyone needs to realize that in this process you will NEVER know what is truly going on. So...in the next month or so while this is going on and people "in the know" that claim they have some inside information don't believe it. There will be hundreds of threads between now and when we hire someone and people need to realize the level of BS that's going to be told by a lot of people is going to be through the roof. Don't be naive folks. There...message delivered and thanks for asking :good!: Having said that....here's to hoping for Gruden :)

Are you assuming that because you don't know anything that nobody else knows anything? Maybe you should rethink that.

This much I do know. Gruden has been breaking down UT football films in his Florida home for over two weeks now. Also, has contacted others and inquired about their availability to assist him on a college level. I did read this, but the deal is far from done
