New language after the amendment passes: "Slavery and involuntary servitude are forever prohibited. Nothing in this section shall prohibit an inmate from working when the inmate has been duly convicted of a crime."

I want to go down there one day and root through the archives or genealogical society.. but most of the Macons stayed in North Carolina, so maybe I should look there it’s difficult doing genealogical traces because they didn’t include a lot through maternal lineages
