But it is a vote on slavery because of how the state constitution reads. Current language: "slavery and involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime, whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, are forever prohibited in this state."I don’t think that was really fair, because if they plainly stated it like ‘should people in jail work..yes or no, people would say yes lol.. jail is punishment and what else are they going to do? People saying it’s a vote on slavery is being dishonest imo..
I know but if you want Rs to take the Senate they needed to take this particularly since they may lose a seat in PA

New language after the amendment passes: "Slavery and involuntary servitude are forever prohibited. Nothing in this section shall prohibit an inmate from working when the inmate has been duly convicted of a crime."
