I am personally embarrassed by Tenn's play. At what point did average play and 4-5th place SEC finishes become acceptable. Dont argue semantics about Tenn position in the SEC. Dont give me, "we were 5-6 last year...this is a good turn around." If Arkansas is #11 and than Tn is #25, at best, assuming credit is given for staying close in games with FL & LSU. While like any loyal Tenn fan I will continue to support my team, I have come to accept mediocrity as the norm. I recognize that TN has many injuries this year and play legitimate role in the current state of football in Tenn. However, does it not seem that injuries have become more of a consistent issue/excuse at Tenn than other 'perceived to be top programs?'

if you're embrassed to be a vol fan right now, I assume you weren't a fan last year? I don't get it....last year...yeah that was embrassing. But we've lost our last 2 games mainly because of injuries and it can't be helped. Give our guys a break, they're out there bustin' their butts off and a lot more faithful to this University than you are

I will always be proud to be a Tennessee Vol and wear the orange and white.

The Vols were beat by a good team tonight. Nothing more. Strap 'em on and get ready for next week.

Thank you!

Yeah, we got beat, of course we could make it excuses for it, but no, we just lost. But that behind ya, suck it up, don't cry about like a little school girl and go out there and give it your all next week

I will never say that a loss can't be helped. We have a chance to win every game we play. If Duke lost to Ohio State, their coach wouldn't say that it couldn't be helped.

I'm just saying we got out played and beat by the better team

We are Tennessee. They are Arkansas. We should be better. We should be much better. Also, saying a loss can't be helped completely absolves all players and coaches of responsibility.

They could end up winning the national championship this year and just because our name is Tennessee, means we should beat them?

there's no denying that Tennessee football isn't as exciting when Tennessee is looking at the prospect of losing 3, or 4 games. Playing to get into the Peach Bowl, just isn't as exciting as playing to be in the top 10 or for an SEC title. Losing possibly 4 games a year, it does wear thin, no matter what the reason is.

I'll never be ashamed to be a Tennessee Vol, but it does piss me off that we don't show up in games like this, where nothing is on the line but pride.

Had we won last week, I don't think we lose this game. It seemed as though alot of the players just didn't give a rat's ass.

Agreed, it was just a loss... nothing more. Move on to the next game and win it. Those that want to make more out of the loss have an agenda that does not support the current team.

Please read, there is a significant difference between being embarrassed by a team's play and being embarrassed to be a fan. As stated, my dedication to Tenn will not waiver but my belief in their ability to win big games consistently will. I am well aware that injuries are an issue this year, but last I checked injuries are a huge issue for Tenn every year. Please note that ND, a team by all accounts is substantially over rated, beat the hell out of Air Force. Air Force, a team who should have beaten TN and the same game where TN lost two of its best defensive players. I am aware that common opponents mean nothing, but where then would you rate TN? Personally I would rank them between 15-20, probably 18. Regarding current state of the program, I would say between 10-15, definitely not top 10.

It means that we are supposed to be the powerhouse program. If we lose to them, it should be a shocking upset, not an old-fashioned beatdown.

To be a true fan, you have to stick with it through the good and the bad. I will never be embarrased to wear my orange and white.

Lets face it this decade is shaping up to be a big disappointment for Vol football. Coming off SEC champs in 97 and 98 and the NC in 98 expectations were high.

I'm not sure UT finishes this decade with a program ranked in the top 20 in terms of wins. Its a definite slip.

Just because someone is bashing the play and coaching tactics of the current UT team does not mean they are a bad fan. It just means they are frustrated with the wasted talent that has come through this school over the past 8 years with nothing to show for it. I would still wear orange if we were 0-12, but I sure as heck have the right to complain about the team I love.

Blaming losses on injuries and player effort is really an indictment of player development in both the football department and the character department IMO. Fulmer has never stressed either one. IMO for too many years CPF got away with beating better coached teams by having far superior talent. It was great to get those wins but it masked the fact that Fulmer is not an x's and o's coach. Now the recruiting has come back to earth. UT cannot expect to get a bunch of 4-5* commits every year and the Vols are not going to out-physical teams that have equal or better talent. On the character development side it is widely known that Fulmer has always wanted to be viewed as a players coach and not a strict disciplinarion. My suspicion is that he took this tack because at one point it helped with recruiting. Whatever the reasons, it is obvious that Fulmer is not going to be able to put the genie back in the bottle. If you're looking for proof check out the arrests after the LSU loss and the relatively light punishments. Want more proof, look at the team's effort when "there's nothing to play for but pride". You can blame the players if you want to, but IMO these are clearly coaching issues that go directly to the core of the team and only one person ultimately bears responsibility for such fundamental problems, the head coach.

Teams screw up sometimes if you don't expect that, be ready for a long life as a college football fan.

When you have an occasional issue it can be viewed that way. When it's the same old problems year after year you need to find the cause(s) and make the appropriate changes to remedy it.

Been a Vol Fan since 1965 don't believe I have EVER been embarrassed to be a Vol Fan.....complain if you want to, we just got beat by a better team. No shame in that. But if you are embarrassed we left the bandwagon in Fayetteville.
