Embarrassed To Be a Tenn Vol

Touche. I don't think OU is all that great, but I bet after their next loss, injuries will not be used as an excuse.

Maybe, maybe not. While I don't think we should blame injuries for all our troubles, but it has been a factor. When it's all said and done, a program like Tennessee should have the kind of depth to balance things out.

I am personally embarrassed by Tenn's play. At what point did average play and 4-5th place SEC finishes become acceptable. Dont argue semantics about Tenn position in the SEC. Dont give me, "we were 5-6 last year...this is a good turn around." If Arkansas is #11 and than Tn is #25, at best, assuming credit is given for staying close in games with FL & LSU. While like any loyal Tenn fan I will continue to support my team, I have come to accept mediocrity as the norm. I recognize that TN has many injuries this year and play legitimate role in the current state of football in Tenn. However, does it not seem that injuries have become more of a consistent issue/excuse at Tenn than other 'perceived to be top programs?'

Why you didn't play, think about the players you get to go work and be frustrated they have to put back together just to win out the rest of the year

Do most Vol fans feel they lost to a inferrior team last evening? IM sorta feeling like a Vanderbilt fan reading some of these post.
With all due respect, I expected talk about what if Ainges wasn't out, Arkansas wouldn't have a chance. I honestly feel that the coverage was good enough to make any QB struggle. This young lad is going to be a good QB for the Vols in my eyes.

I want to thank all of you that reconized McFadden's talent. We have struggled for the past two seasons as all of you fans know. It's truly a blessing and pleasure to see some great talent on our side of the ball for a change. Keeping my fingers crossed that injurys will stay far away from these young Razorbacks.

We've had quite a few football games this season. Too many games to come out and look like we've never played football before. We should not have been pushed around like that.

They have struggled but some of it was self inflicted with the sanctions but although my team suffered it is refreshing to hear that the same team from the west being Auburn, LSU, or Alabama does not get to go to the SEC championship, its like watching a rerun

There are several of us here who said Arkansas would be good during the preseason. I don't think there's any doubt they're a superior team now.

If you think Tennessee (or any team in the United States) is not going to ever be blown out again you are sadly wrong. It happens to everyone and, at least in our case, we were beaten by the no. one team in the country. Yes, Arky could beat any of the teams ranked above them. They are the only team in the SEC that has gotten significantly better from the beginning of the season to present. I think when we see Arkansas and Florida in the SEC championship game some will realize the caliber of team we just lost to.

I agree on some points but if a team takes McFadden out of the equation Arky is quite pedestrian, just look at the first game of the year when USC came to town

Maybe...maybe not. I'm not whining about what have could have been, but Arkansas is a very different team than the one that lost to USC. Johnson was the QB for that game, he never played after that game except as a WR. Dick, who played last night was injured and didn't play at all. Mustain the freshman played a little in the 4th quarter. McFadden was injured and was not expected to play the first couple games but did have a few carries against USC. The game was closer than the final score shows, we were down 16-7 at half, but no team can turn the ball over 5 times to USC and expect to win. 30 something of their points were off of turnovers. Plus you know how their coach is, he likes to run up the score...leaving his starters in into the 4th quarter, throwing the ball downfield, and even going for it on 4th down (twice) in the 4th quarter. The score was 24-7 starting the 4th, SC scored 3 TDs in the 4th...last one with 1:42 to go. Again, no excuses things happen, we didn't put it together until after the Bama win.....just saying we'd like another shot at them!

I don't have a high opinion of pete carroll, mac brown, or steve spurrier for the reason of running up the score for no reason it is a most classless act of college football.

If you don't want to get beat 70-3, put a team on the field that can stop somebody. Otherwise, you take your lumps.

that was in the championship I think they got there for putting a team that could take some lumps. But that conference has a habit of losing it in big games just look what Oklahoma did in the NC game in 03 or 04 I can't remember

And OU won in 2000 and Texas won in '05. What's your point?

I love being a TN fan and always will, I wanna go to bigger bowls obviously you cant win the NC every year but it would sure be nice to get in the Fiesta, orange, sugar or rose bowl. It may be time for a change in the coaches look at Jim Tressel at Ohio State, Charlie Weiss at ND, they came in and turned their programs that were once elite around since they became head coaches at their schools. If we dont improve how are you gonna recruit the best high school players.

We are Tennessee. They are Arkansas. We should be better. We should be much better.

How long are we going to say this? We're Tennessee, its our god-given birthright to be #1!

No, it doesnt work that way. We need to stop being delusional and quit saying "Oh they're Arkansas/Auburn/Georgia, we're TENNESSEE we're should be better!"

I dont think there is any "should be better". Either you are or you arent. There is a reason we arent better.

I hate to gripe about water that has already passed under the bridge, but if Mike Hamilton had pulled the trigger last year as he should have there is a very good chance that UT could have landed Butch Davis. Since the Vols waited he goes to UNC and we will very likely see another wall go up around a traditionally fertile recruiting state for the Vols.

I can live with the LSU and Fla. loses but this team QUIT Saturday night from the HC on down. That is unacceptable! Great teams win the games they are suppose too and find a way to win the ones they should of lost! If you want a GOOD program, we have one! If you want a Great one.........

When you have an occasional issue it can be viewed that way. When it's the same old problems year after year you need to find the cause(s) and make the appropriate changes to remedy it.

Last year it was the offense, this year its the defense. Defend why you think the Vols have the same problems "year after year".

Special teams have been a consistent joke for as long as I can remember.

Watching the Vols get blown off of the line of scrimmage on either side of the ball makes the issues of offense and defense run together a bit.

It is very frustrating to play three good teams, and be completely outmatched on the line of scrimmage on offense and defense against all three. Arkansas, LSU to a greater extent and Florida made the defense look like they were running in slow motion.

What about Vanderbilt 19 / Arkansas 21 ?

I think a bigger problem is our inability to stop the run--period. Airforce got hammered by ND, but nearly beat us. Our defense has problems right now and they are recurring problems...our DB's are quick and don't like to tackle for some reason. That's why you see those guys getting a few picks, but good passing teams will roll up the real estate on UT. Since we have no say in the decision making, all we can do is just say, "It is what it is."
