Emily Schubert 6'4"

How? Let's look at a comparison:

Records in last four years:

Holly: 108-34 (76%), 50-14 (78%)
JPM: 104-33 (76%), 48-18 (73%)

Conference Championships
Holly: 2013 RS, 2014 SECT, 2015 RS
JPM: 2013 RS, 2013 ACCT

NCAA Tournaments
Holly: 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016
JPM: 2013, 2014, 2015

Sweet 16
Holly: 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016
JPM: 2013, 2015

Elite 8
Holly: 2013, 2015, 2016
JPM: 2013

MCDAA
Holly: 7
JPM: 13

Top 5 Recruiting Classes:
Holly: 1
JPM: 3

JPM has clearly brought in more AAs than Holly, but has done much less with that talent.

I will now add "butt hurt" to the equation.......

I honestly can't believe she signed with Duke. Having seen her play multiple times locally she just doesn't have the overall skills to play for a D1 college in my opinion. I know we would have taken her because we couldn't get anybody to sign & there's not much available.

She's a talent for schools such as ETSU, Tenn Tech, Liberty, MTSU,etc. Not for a major D1 college. I guarantee she will transfer out of Duke either after her freshman or sophomore season. The only way she stays is just to get her education.

She could also transfer to a lower level school closer to home like Milligan or King College as well. No way she stays at Duke to play basketball. She's just not good enough even though she's smart enough to make the grades to play.

Do you mean if she's not good enough to ever start, you think she'll give up a Duke degree to end her basketball career maybe starting at a smaller school? Or do you think they'll pull a Harbaugh and take away her scholarship?

I say unless she gets better & good enough to be in the rotation she will not stay at Duke. That's unless she doesn't care about playing & just wants her education there. She could transfer to a much smaller school close to home & have both.

Definitely playing time & probably starter & get her an education as well. She's already a very smart girl. I would love to see her play locally in college like at Milligan or King College. She's definitely good enough to play at both of these schools.

She's also good enough to go up a little higher into D1 to a school like ETSU or Tenn Tech or equivalent. I just don't think she makes it at Duke just wanting to play basketball as her top priority.

The question for her will be is her education at Duke more important while setting the bench at Duke or is playing basketball more important that she must transfer while getting her education at another school?

I think she rides the pine for four years and has a great educational as well as sports experience. She is a great kid and will help the team, that is all that counts.

A good coach can take a 6'4" and make them into more than they came in as TB. You can't coach them on how to grow.... Remember Stephanie Dolson at UConn. And even better, if you can take a look at G's newest tower6'5" Natalie Butler... She looks slower and less useful than Dolson, OR Shubert.... It's not ALL about what you have, it can often be about what you DO with what you have.

I've seen her play personally multiple times. I'm only telling you what I've seen & what I predict of her. She got into Duke because of her smarts. She's not a major D1 level basketball talent.

I doubt she stays at Duke past her sophomore year unless like I sad she's there to not worry about basketball playing time & just to get her education. There's nothing wrong with that if that's what she chooses.

BTW, you can't teach athleticism either. She doesn't have a lot of that either. Coaching can teach players a lot but athleticism is not one of them! Just like speed for football players. You can't teach that!

I agree you cannot teach height but it can be coached. Schubert's success will depend a lot upon her dedication and desire to be great. With that and a good coach she can be a D1 success. In high school tall girls are not always taught to use all their abilities because of height, they are seldom challenged. I am not sure Duke is a good fit for her, except for education. McCallie has had several 5 star post and none of them have really been dominant or became significantly better than they were as freshmen. I hope we are not saying the same thing about Russell in a couple of years.

I met someone last night that knows Schubert & she said Schubert didn't choose UT because we started recruiting her so late. Duke & others had been on her radar for a good while.

This person I'm talking about also said Holly came to watch her play in the high school regionals. That was Holly's 1st time watching her play.

Yes agreed..... subject of investigation.... keep quiet.... but that has never been Coach P's way..... she is lucky she is in the women's game.... if her results were on men's side at Duke she would have been gone long ago..... Duke WB committed to mediocrity. Fine with me
